UNS — Ten scientific journals in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta were preparing applications submission to the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The Journal Development Implementation Unit (UPPJ) under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UNS supports this effort by hosting the “UNS Journal: Checking and Submission DOAJ Indexation” on Thursday (20/1/2022) through a hybrid virtual event, conducted at UNS Inn and broadcasted through the Zoom Cloud Meeting. This event was designed for and attended by journal administrators at UNS, with the aims to encourage UNS journals to be indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
The event was opened by the Head of UPPJ LPPM UNS, Dr. Ir. Mujiyo, SP, MP. In his remark, Dr. Mujiyo revealed this event as one of the efforts to improve the acceleration of UNS journals accreditation and indexation by international journal indexing institutions. “This activity aims to increase the number of UNS journals indexed by the international indexation (DOAJ) institution. The expected outcome from this event is the increase of DOAJ indexation for ten UNS journals,” said Dr. Ir. Mujiyo.
The ten journals are ‘Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics’; ‘Journal of Physics Materials and Learning’; ‘Journal of Entrepreneurship and Business’; ‘Equilibrium Journal of Chemical Engineering’; ‘REGION: Journal of Regional Development and Participatory Planning’; ‘ARCHITECTURE: Scientific Journal of Architecture and the Built Environment’; ‘Bioeducation: Journal of Biology Education’; ‘INKUIRI: Journal of Science Education’; ‘Placentum: Scientific Journal of Health and Its Applications’; and ‘Journal of Sociological Analysis.’ These journals were reviewed during this event to meet the DOAJ indexing criteria.
Inviting Arbain, SP, M.Pd as the main speaker, and Kukuh Tejomurti SH, LL.M., as a moderator, material related to the guidelines for DOAJ submission were discussed thoroughly by the speaker. Further, de also described several mistakes that often occur during the DOAJ indexation application process, including inconsistent information on copyright holders, copyright dispute, and licenses.
Hopefully, these errors can be avoided by the ten journals preparing for submission to the DOAJ indexation. UPPJ LPPM hopes that the ten journal applications can be endorsed to get indexed by the DOAJ, thus, improving the quality of UNS journals. Humas UNS
