UNS — UPT Archives of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta provided assistance and guidance regarding archival management. Activities carried out in Meeting Room 4 Building dr. Prakosa UNS, Tuesday (16/5/2023) were attended by coordinators, sub-coordinators, archivists and filing officers in each work unit at UNS.
In his remarks, the Acting Vice Rector for General Affairs and Human Resources (HR) UNS, Dr. Muhtar said that orderly administration of archives and saving archives that have historical value are urgent needs at this time. “Archive management does seem trivial, but with good archive management it will increase performance reputation and is also useful for performance appraisal,” Dr. Muhtar explained.
Dr. Muhtar added that optimization and coaching are needed for all stakeholders involved in archiving. Excellent service means that every document needed by units or stakeholders must always be ready and available quickly. Then it must be planned both in terms of the data and speed required for each archival service.
“This training of archivists must be optimized because sometimes the file structure that is not good will make it difficult for us to search. The better we store and archive files, the better we can serve each unit that needs them. Performance will be good when service is good,” he added.

He also added that achievement orientation should not only be said as a slogan but also be implemented in the field.
“One of UNS’s performance cultures is achievement orientation, what do we do with it? We must strive to achieve better than what we have now. It should be that the more we come here, the better our records will be, not the worse. Because our competitors everywhere will try to be much better than us,” he continued.
As input and evaluation of archival performance in each unit, the Head of Archive Unit UNS, Yani Maryudiasti, S.Sos. conveyed the results of the archival evaluation 2023 and will provide assistance and guidance related to further archival management in order to create orderly archival administration in the coming year.
“There are 51 target work units in UNS that we will assist and provide special training in the field of archives with a focus on fostering processing units and archival units II. With the assistance and coaching that is carried out, it is hoped that each unit can understand and at the same time be aware of the importance of archives in organizing good and complete archives,” Yani said.
