UNS — The Vice-Chairman of Constitutional Court (MK) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Prof. Dr. Aswanto, officially opened the Constitution Speech Competition on Thursday (2/12/2021). Prof. Aswanto opened the competition that invited village chiefs in Solo Raya directly in the Faculty of Law (FH) UNS Hall 3.

Seventy village chiefs were scheduled to participate in the competition from all villages in the Solo Raya region, including Surakarta Municipality, Karanganyar District, Sragen District, Wonogiri District, Sukoharjo District, Klaten District, and Boyolali District. Prof. Aswanto explained that the competition is an effort to assess the village chief’s performance in ensuring the constitutional rights of their people. The faculty member of Universitas Hasanuddin also stated that village leaders are the spearhead of MK in providing constitutional services for the society.

“Bapak Ibu village chiefs have a strategic position as a spearhead in providing services for the community. Therefore, you can be considered by the community as an implementation of their rights as guaranteed in the constitution,” Prof. Aswanto stated.

Prof. Aswanto also emphasized that village chiefs need to provide good services for the community as mandated by the constitution. “The rights to be treated well, the right to be treated humanely,” Prof. Aswanto stated before adding that all of the practices need to be implemented daily in providing services for the community.

The opening ceremony was also attended directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho. Prof. Jamal stated that he is delighted with the event and views it as an exciting and important event.

“It is an honor for us to be trusted by MK to host this competition. Hopefully, the event could run smoothly until Saturday,” Prof. Jamal added.

Vice-Chairman of MK Officially Opened the Constitution Speech Competition for Village Chiefs in Solo Raya

The constitution speech is a competition held by MK RI in collaboration with FH UNS and was scheduled for three days from Thursday to Saturday (2—4 December 2021). Thursday (2/12/2021) was the first day of the competition with two agendas, the opening ceremony and briefing for participants. The briefing was provided by four speakers: Vice Chairman of MK, Prof. Dr. Aswanto, and three MK judges Prof. Dr. Arief Hidayat, S.H., MS.; Prof. Dr. Enny Nurbaningsih, S.H., M. Hum.; and Prof. Dr. Saldi Isra, S.H.

The competition started on the second day for elimination to semifinal rounds. The final round was held on Saturday (4/12/2021), followed by closing and announcement of the winner. Humas UNS
