UNS — Wedangan Alumni Association (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Serie-74 was held to discuss the entrepreneurial career of Faculty of Medical Science (FK) alumni. Like the previous series, this Wedangan IKA UNS was held through the Zoom Cloud Meeting and UNS YouTube channel on Wednesday (8/9/2021), and was specially broadcasted by TVRI Central Java.
Led by dr. Ika Puspitasari, MPH., as a moderator, this Wedangan invited three FK UNS alumni: dr. Rosyid Ridlo, MMR., as the Owner & CEO of PT. Amal Mulia, Dr. dr. Renni Yuniati Sp.KK, FINSDV, FAADV, M.H., as the Owner & CEO of PT. Muntiara Kosmediatama, and dr. Theresia Ratnawati, as the Owner & CEO of Rumah Teh Ndoro Dongker.
In his opening remarks, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., shared his curiosity on the entrepreneurial career of FK UNS alumni. He also expressed his happiness and delight to the alumni who have successfully pursue a career in various fields.
“Happy and proud, Faculty of Medical Science alumni are the fastest to grow and succeed, excellent. There are (alumni who work) at military, bureaucracy, and some are deviating, do not open medical practice but success in their entrepreneurship,” Prof. Jamal said.
The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), also admitted that there is a large number of entrepreneurs who graduated from FK UNS. He considers that entrepreneurship education in the learning process could facilitate students to enrich their skills and career options. dr. Sri Pratomo, Sp.B, FINACS, FICS, the Chief of Alumni Association (KA) FK UNS and President Director of Nirmalasuri Hospital considers that FK UNS alumni who are active as a doctor while pursuing other careers in entrepreneurship are a pure multi-talents.
“They are (doctor) but could run two or three different businesses, and all run smoothly,” dr. Sri Pratomo said in the discussion opening session.
dr. Rosyid Ridlo, MMR., shared his success story. The alumnus of batch 1991 FK UNS, who worked in a clinic in Jakarta and served a small island in Sumenep, decided to open the basic medical service or clinic once he was faced with two options: continue serving as a state civil employee or building his own business. The clinic went through various challenges before it shifted into a hospital in 2006. Therefore, dr. Rosyid efforts allow the local community to have closer and affordable health care services.
Dr. dr. Renni Yuniati Sp.KK, FINSDV, FAADV, M.H., shared her experience next. Shae shared that her entrepreneurial spirit have been there since she was young and led her to open PT. Muntira Kosmediatama, a skincare business in 2011. dr. Theresia Ratnawati, as the last speaker, shared her experience in opening and managing Rumah Teh Ndoro Dongker that focuses on promoting local tea products and introduces types of plants that can be processed into tea. The tea products are expected to be developed as a form of therapy.
Vice-Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FK UNS, Paramasari Dirgahayu, dr. Ph.D., nearing the end of the discussion, shared her proudness for the alumni who shared their success stories. The entrepreneurship passion of each alumnus has a positive impact on society.
