UNS — The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta implement three selection channels. This implementation is in accordance with the Permendikbud No. 6 of 2020 regarding New Undergraduate/Bachelor Program Student Admission in State University. The channels are National Admission Selection for State University (SNMPTN), Joint Admission Selection for State University (SBMPTN), and other selection types (Independent Selection). The provision regarding SNMPTN and SBMPTN is regulated by the Institution of University Entrance Exams (LTMPT), while the Independent Selection is administered internally by UNS.
The coordinator of Undergraduate/Bachelor Degree Admission for UPT SPMB UNS, Widiyanto, Ph.D., states that there is an amendment regarding the quota available for each admission selection channel. This information was delivered during the XLIV Wedangan IKA UNS, Wednesday (10/2/2021). Previously, when UNS is Public Service Agency (BLU), the largest quota available is allocated to the SBMPTN. However, starting in 2021, the largest quota for new students’ admission will be allocated to Independent Selection.
“The determination of UNS as PTN BH also change the quota. If previously the Independent Selection is only allocated for 30% of total new student admission, now it is 50%,” Widiyanto states.
The amendment also affects the quota for SNMPTN and SBMPTN. In 2021, UNS will admit 20% (minimum) new students through SNMPTN, and 30% through SBMPTN. Further provision on these 2 admission selection channels can be found on the LTMPT website. On the other hand, information related to UNS Independent Selection can be found in the spmb.uns.ac.id website. Overall there is not much change related to the SNMPTN and SBMPTN. However, specific to the SBMPTN test subject there is a minor change, where the Academic Competency Test (TKA) in Computer Based Written Examination (UTBK) is divided into two types namely Science-Technology (Saintek) TKA and Soshum TKA. Additionally, this year UTBK will need to take two tests, the TKA and Scholastic Potential Test (TPS), whereas last year UTBK only requires TPS.
While the largest quota is allocated to the Independent Selection, there are several options available under this channel. “The Independent Selection itself is divided into several channels such as achievement tracking, collaboration, UTBK, as well as Hafidz Qur’an,” Widiyanto explains.
