UNS — Students in Group 24 of Student Community Service Program (KKN) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a workshop on functional leather handicrafts for daily and business needs in Panggungrejo Hamlet, Ngadirejo Village, Mojogedang Subdistrict, Karanganyar District.
Rangga, a group member, explained that leather handicrafts are always sought by people. “Therefore, learning how to make leather handicrafts like wallets, bags, and key chains will become an opportunity to improve the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for village Karang Taruna,” Rangga explained on Monday (14/3/2022).
The tools used in the production process consisted of synthetic leather, acrylic paint, leather glue, rubber, scissors, pencil, cutter, ruler for designing patterns, needle and polyester thread for sewing leather, hammer and fork inlay for punching holes in leather edges, beveler to outline stitch patterns, as well as sandpaper and wood slicker to smooth the leather.
The workshop aimed to invite Karang Taruna members to produce handicrafts. “Hopefully, the workshop could motivate and increase the awareness on Ngadirejo Village, Mojogedang youth’s potentials,” Rangga stated during the workshop held on Saturday (26/2/2022).
The workshop was scheduled for two days, Saturday (26/2/2022) and Sunday (27/2/2022), but due to the high enthusiasm, the training could be completed in one day. Humas UNS
