Bone Graft works as a bone filling material. This Dr. Joko and team&#8217;s innovation was named <\/span><b>Semar Bone Graft<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To the reporter, he said that in conducting this research until producing the outcome, he was involving some lecturers from several disciplines, among them were dr. Suyatmi, M. BiomedSc. from Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNS and dr. I Dewa Nyoman Suci Anindya Murdiyantara, Sp.OT. from Klaten General Hospital (RSUP) Soeradji Tirtonegoro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Joko said UNS developed this product because bone graft used in the hospitals was imported from other countries. Until now, there is no local product listed in e-catalog.lkpp.go.id that can be claimed by Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) yet. Moreover, many bone fracture repair procedures that require bone graft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Survey in 2010 concludes that there were 4.537 patients of bone fracture in Prof. Soeharso Orthopedic Hospital Surakarta,&#8221; he stated in the middle of Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) UNS Roadshow, Thursday (09\/12\/2019).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For this background, Dr. Joko and team established bone graft made of xenograft or cow bones. Cow bones were collected from a slaughterhouse at Jagalan, Solo. The production process is started by selecting the fresh cow bones. Then, the demineralization and deproteinization process to get rid of minerals and proteins contained in the bones. This is done by sun-drying the bones and then boiling them for three times. Next, the bones are cut into small pieces in 10 x 10 x 10 mm size. After that, the bones are baked in the oven for two hours in 1.200<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C to sterilize the ingredients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We choose cow bones because we want to utilize local products and these bones have not been used maximally. We are trying to maximize the benefits of this material. And certainly, the price is also cheap,&#8221; he explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, the imported bone-graft are made of synthetic ingredients and chemical substances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The products that usually used by the hospitals are still imported, such as Bio-oss Bongros products shipped in from Korea. The imported materials are pricey, Rp1.7 million for 5 ccs, and this product is listed in e-catalog.lkpp.go.id. While <\/span><b>Semar Bone Graft<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is way cheaper, Rp400 thousands for 10 ccs,&#8221; he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He hopes that this finding can be developed, and there is cooperation with industry. &#8220;We have conducted trials and errors on white mice in collaboration with the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of UGM (Universitas Gajah Mada). There is no inflammation, infection, and growing bones,&#8221; he further explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Joko and team started this research in 2016.
