{"id":15562,"date":"2020-02-05T09:18:23","date_gmt":"2020-02-05T02:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/?p=15562"},"modified":"2020-02-05T09:18:23","modified_gmt":"2020-02-05T02:18:23","slug":"kkn-uns-assist-wonosari-community-to-process-roselle-into-profitable-syrup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/kkn-uns-assist-wonosari-community-to-process-roselle-into-profitable-syrup\/","title":{"rendered":"KKN UNS Assist Wonosari Community to Process Roselle into Profitable Syrup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>UNS, Malang<\/strong> \u2013 A creation by the students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, was delivered through the Community Service Program (KKN) for the period January-February 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">After several real actions, such as workshop on environmentally-friendly bag by the UNS KKN Team in Krambilsawit, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), now it\u2019s the turn for the KKN Team in Wonosari Malang to show their action through an assistance to produce a valuable syrup made from Roselle for the village community in Sumberdem village, Wonosari Sub-district, Malang.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Roselle, which scientific name is <em>Hibiscus sabdariffa<\/em>, is believed to has a number of benefits for the human body, such as increasing immunity, antidepressant, and prevent tumors and cancer. Because of those benefits made the Sumberdem villagers interested in growing roselle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">One of the members of KKN Wonosari, Malang team from the media division, Dhifa Azalia Ars Abdin, mentioned that the community in Sumberdem village is interested in roselle for a half year ago. Their interest in roselle received serious support from the Chief of Sumberdem Village, Purwati, S. E.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cInitially, there was only one resident who planted roselle, upon knowing the benefits of roselle, the villagers want it to be expanded to the whole a village. This was supported by the Village Chief because it is a great program for the village. The roselle plantation is just starting around 5-6 months,\u201d explain Dhifa to uns.ac.id, Monday (03\/02\/2020).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In order to assist the Sumberdem villagers to process roselle into a valuable processed product, the UNS KKN Team in Wonosari, Malang, invites Ida Zuliana, the Chief of Processed Food Section, Department of Industry and Commerce (Disperindag), Malang District, and Ribut Widodo, a Field Agriculture Instructor, from the Agricultural Counseling Center of Wonosari Sub-district, Malang, to deliver a presentation on cultivation, entrepreneurial motivation, and product licensing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The counseling and material presentation were held on Saturday (01\/02\/2020), in Balai RW 6, Dusun Ambya&#8217;an. Further, to enhance the knowledge on the production of roselle syrup, the villagers are invited to witness directly the making of roselle syrup directed by Rifqi Dhiya Fauzan who is the student from Food Technology Science Study Program (Prodi ITP), Faculty of Agriculture (FP), UNS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">With the counseling and the demo on roselle syrup production, it is expected that the community in Sumberdem village can make roselle as a souvenir from the village. <strong><em>UNS\/Yefta<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UNS, Malang \u2013 A creation by the students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, was delivered through the Community Service Program (KKN) for the period January-February 2020.
