The authority was granted to the regions with a low or decreasing transmission rate. The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Sociologist, Dr. rer.nat. Nurhadi expressed the importance of an in-depth assessment of the condition at the local level, started from the smallest level such as RT (Neighborhood Association).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is really important, the readiness to face the new normal does not only concern the regional readiness but also the community\u2019s sociological readiness. We only rely on quantitative data, for example in a region with a declining curve, thus, new normal is prepared for the region. In fact, an in-depth assessment has not yet been conducted on whether or not there have been changes in community behavior that is adaptive to the pandemic,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p>New normal can be easily implemented and goes smoothly if there are significant changes in community behavior. The changes can be in the form of handwashing habits, wearing masks when traveling, reducing crowds, exercising diligently, and many others. Other than that, supporting facilities in public places such as schools, industrial areas, or shopping centers, need to be reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there is no significant change, I am afraid that the implementation of new normal will cause the second, third, fourth wave, and so forth. The behavioral changes aim to prevent the spread of viruses according to health protocols,\u201d Nurhadi adds.<\/p>\n<p>Hence, when the new normal takes place there will be several changes in the society both for the short and long term. The long-term impact can be in the form of the reduction of activities that involve many people\/crowds. Moreover, if this virus is still in the middle of society even though in small amounts.
