Moderated by Dr. Paramitha Rahayu, the webinar presented two speakers from the School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development (SAPPK) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), namely Dr. Delik Hudalah and Dr. Fikri Zul Fahmi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In front of hundreds of participants, Dr. Delik reviews the Structure and Substance of Scientific Articles, specifically the introduction as a crucial part of a scientific article. He explains that the thesis statements become the most central point in the introduction or the whole article, although in practice it is not explicitly written. This is because the thesis statement contains the main argument of the writer that should be followed-up during the whole article, thus attracting readers\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWhen you are asked to describe your article in one sentence, thus, it is the thesis statement. With a good thesis statement, at least half of the article presentation is done. Because it communicates the idea of our article, giving direction, and explains our position. Our position needs to be clear, thus our thesis statement must be sharp, and maybe the antithesis of other researchers,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Aside from the thesis statement, the title becomes another important matter in scientific article writing. Although it is no central, the title has a subjective and objective role and function.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In general, Dr. Delik mentions that the objective function of a title should be informative and describe the actual content of the article. It needs to be effective and efficient, which means all words that are not essential and too technical must not be included in the title. For instance, methodological words such as \u2018study\u2019 and \u2018identification\u2019 are considered as a must in the writing process in all scientific articles. A good title must not be too general but also not too specific to the point of mentioning its methodology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWhat important is for a title to use keywords that are searchable and popular in Google. Do not use dictions that are culturally too personal and are only understood in our community or country. Meanwhile, from the subjective side, a title must be interesting. Thus it should be related to the current issues,\u201d said Dr. Delik.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During the article review, there will be revisions or rejection from the reviewers and editor, Dr. Fikri Zul Fahmi on this occasion, explains several tips on responding to this condition. First, after receiving the decision letter, the author should not revise the article immediately. Wait for some time, be calm, then make some plans to respond.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Afterward, the author can read the comments and inputs from the reviewers and mark all the important points. There are two approaches to responding to the comments if there are only a few comments, the author can directly copying the comment and responding to it, but there are many of them, it is advised that author make a table of response.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As for the recommendation from the reviewers, the author is advised to follow it. However, if the author has a different point of view, it is acceptable to deliver a polite and appropriate argument on the rejection of the recommendation. Meanwhile, if the article is rejected, it is needed to revise it. Because there is a possibility that the article will be reviewed by the same reviewer when it is submitted to another journal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWhen the article is rejected, it is not the end of everything, it does not mean that the article is bad, but it is not suitable for the journal, not the time.
