{"id":17307,"date":"2020-08-04T18:00:12","date_gmt":"2020-08-04T11:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/?p=17307"},"modified":"2020-08-04T14:58:18","modified_gmt":"2020-08-04T07:58:18","slug":"young-charity-positive-movement-of-uns-student-in-klaten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/young-charity-positive-movement-of-uns-student-in-klaten\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Charity, Positive Movement of UNS Student in Klaten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>UNS<\/strong> \u2013 The still ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the still increasing curve, amid the current pandemic condition the student of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, continue to carry out a series of positive activities by initiating a movement entitled the \u2018Muda Berderma (Young Charity) that was established since 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The student behind this movement is Alfiana Eka Priyanika, a student of Diploma in Broadcasting Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). Their activities include distribution of basic food, food sharing, visiting underprivileged families, and during this pandemic raising donations to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical personnel. Muda Berderma is a humanity-based social community and education in Klaten. \u201cMuda Berderma is a social and education community, which based on humanity, in Klaten, thus, its basecamp is in Klaten. The members are student members, high school students, and then there are those who are already working. We also have volunteer and permanent donors around 80 people,\u201d explains Alfiana when interviewed by uns.ac.id team.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Implementing their activity, Muda Berderma establishes a collaboration with philanthropy organizations such as Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) and Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) in Klaten. This July, Muda Berderma collaborates with Peduli Anak Yatim Klaten (PAYK), which established in 2015. For once a month, PAYK has a program to support orphans in Klaten, amounting to 15-30 orphans. After the collaboration between PAYK and Muda Berderma initiates a program \u2018Senyum Yatim\u2019 with a door to door visit, to the orphans\u2019 house in Klaten. In the Senyum Yatim, there are 112 children who receive the benefit of this program in the form of financial assistance and basic necessities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Together with PAYK, Muda Berderma also collaborates with another 19 community in Klaten. From this collaboration, donations amounted to Rp 30.966.000,00 is collected. This amount is distributed to the orphans in Klaten, under a condition that their guardian&#8217;s income is below Rp. 20,000 per day. When conducting an assessment of the field, Alfiana told a touching story of an orphan named Lintang and Bintang. Both kids are living with their grandparents because their parents have died. Their grandparents work as a clerk to mounting glue at a wedding gift. During this pandemic, they cannot work because there is no demand for souvenirs, thus they can only expect assistance because they have no income at all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cDuring this pandemic, they have no job and only hope for assistance. We were slapped by reality. For us, we can use 5,000 to 10,000 to buy Thai tea, but for them, that amount can be used for a daily meal for four-person. Indeed, our target is achieved,\u201d Alfiana explains.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Alfiana hopes that Senyum Yatim can help the economics of orphan caregivers and for the orphans themselves. \u201cHopefully, this can help their (the orphans and the caregiver\u2019s) economy condition.
