This event invited Aria Bima as Deputy Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) and Joanes Joko from the Presidential Staff Office of the Republic of Indonesia. The event was held online through the Zoom Clouds meeting on Saturday (14\/11\/2020) last week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Faculty Member of State Administration Science Program, Tiyas Nur Haryani, M.Si, delivered an opening for the discussion as the moderator. According to Tiyas, ICT-based bureaucracy performance has been implemented before the Covid-19 pandemic struck. However, the ICT utilization increased rapidly amid the pandemic due to the new normal to work remotely. As the speaker, Aria Bima shared the experiences and work practices of DPR RI to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In his discussion, mentioned that the development of ICT that have been taken in DPR-RI including the information system for attendance and daily logbook of Civil Servant Secretary-General of DPR RI, managing virtual meeting, application for correspondence, and many other activities. DPR RI emphasizes the importance of mastering ICT for all of the staff members and legislative members. The importance of ICT skills has also been stressed during the staff recruitment process in DPR RI.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The changes in Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) and Standard of Services in New Normal have been designed and implemented in DPRI RI as a form of adaptation amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The ICT currently becomes a primary need for the bureaucrat, private organization, and the community. Further, Joanes Joko also explained his experience in working remotely using ICT. He considers the use of ICT has made his work to be faster and easier. However, he added, good time management is needed to support the current condition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">At the end of the session, as the moderator, Tiyas closed the discussion by concluding that the use of ICT in bureaucracy increases the efficiency, effectiveness, and the ability to solve problems. The efficiency is reflected in the reduced distance, time, and budget because of online meetings. Effectiveness is also reflected in the components of bureaucrat\u2019s performance. Lastly, in providing a solution, bureaucrat performance using ICT is expected to increase public services quality. The community\u2019s socio, economic, and political condition after using ICT will not go backward.
