An educational movement on Renewable Energy and climate crisis, initiated by the students of UNS in July 2020. SRE, which initially had been established at the national and city level, in UNS was started by Daniel Ardra Simon (Development Economics Study Program 2019) and Rahel Sherina Marcella (Management Study Program 2018) due to vacancy in this type of organization on the campus area. They also consider that this issue is important and needs to be disseminated to the public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Targeting the UNS students, general students, and Solo residents, SRE UNS wishes the renewable energy issue can get more attention, especially among the young generation. \u201cWe need to immediately change, one of the methods is to use new and renewable energy. We hope to not only educate, but buat also inspires the young generation to be courageous to take action for the better earth,\u201d Daniel, as the President of SRE UNS, reveals to uns.ac.id team, Sunday (31\/1\/2021).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The will to take action is in line with the core value proposed by Daniel and his team, namely inclusivity, creativity, democracy, and courage as a boost for the SRE UNS movement. This commitment is proven with an action taken by SRE UNS to not only recruit 18 administrators, but also 71 members who specifically receive education for one management period. Currently, the members had received 7 (seven) EBT introduction program and mentoring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, SRE UNS also organizes two national webinars, which open to the public, inviting expert speakers in this field. Establishing the SRE UNS, Daniel collaborates with two institutions namely Energy Academy Indonesia and Indonesian Renewable Energy Society. Regarding public awareness, Daniel admits that Indonesian, especially UNS students, have sufficient knowledge on the environmental damage. However, they still consider this damage as a usual matter, which does not affect their life. On the other hand, there is also a fraction of the public that considers this issue as an overly complex and difficult matter to be studied and discussed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The condition, according to Daniel, is the reason why the education on New and Renewable Energy is not yet effective and tend to be monotonous. This issue must be delivered in a simple and not in an absurd way, hence it can be understood by the audience. Additionally, according to Daniel, even though there is a youth movement in the climate crisis, the amount of attention given to this specific matter is still lacking.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOn the other hand, the development of New and Renewable Energy in Indonesia is disappointing. It is possible that we might not be able to reach the 2025 national energy mix target with 23% new and renewable energy, because of several regulations and investment climate that do not fully support renewable energy industry,\u201d Daniel explains.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Planned Target and NGO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Several new plans have been established by SRE UNS such as a study on green campus and EBT feasibility study in Solo, as well as an industry visit. This study on gree campus will allow SRE UNS to collaborate with the Environmental Research Center (PPLH) LPPM UNS. Regarding their future plan, Daniel hopes that SRE UNS members can be a catalyzer for UNS students who want to develop their organization and students who wish to participate in any championship in the field of energy and the environment.
