Recently a group of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Student Community Service Program (KKN) in Bendan Village, Banyudono Sub-District, Boyolali, attempts to transform waste from tofu\/<em>tahu<\/em> industry into fertilizers and biogas, Tuesday (16\/2\/2021). In total 30 residents are attending the event at Bendan Village Meeting Hall. Before practicing the process, the Group 10 of the KKN UNS Team held dissemination on fertilizers and biogas production as an introduction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tofu or <em>tahu<\/em> (bean curd) has become a commercial commodity in Bendan Village, resulting in a significant amount of waste. \u201cIn this KKN program, we bring \u2018Creative Industry\u2019 theme, where it still related with waste management. Therefore, we choose <em>tahu<\/em> waste utilization,\u201d explains Arfais Rahman as the Head of the KKN team.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The student of Office Administration Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS explains that they collaborate with the Environment Service Agency (DLH) of Boyolali District and Agni Mandiri Group. \u201cWe collaborate with the related government agencies and the Agni Mandiri Group, which focused on waste management in Boyolali. Thus, all activities from dissemination to the processing practice, we are assisted by the group,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The practice was given to clear up the material presented by DLH Boyolali and Agni Mandiri Group. The practice focus on fertilizers made from waste material. Aside from the materials and tools that are easy to use, the process can be done quickly and efficiently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe materials are <em>tahu<\/em>\/tofu waste (150 liters), brown sugar (4 kg), water (5 liters), activator solutions (1 liter), a barrel with 200 liters volume, and mixer. The process started with mixing all materials in the barrel and then left it alone for about 15 days. After 15 days, the fertilizers can be applied directly,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Arfais hopes that this activity can increase community awareness toward waste management, especially <em>tahu<\/em> waste.
