The webinar was held through Zoom Meeting Platform and Youtube Livestream in UNS Fintech Center Youtube Channel, with more than 1,000 participants attending both from Indonesia and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Guided by Dewanti Cahyaningsih, M.Rech as moderator, the webinar was opened directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho. \u201cIslamic finance and banking develop rapidly and supporting the financial industry, therefore become an insight for all of us,\u201d Prof. Jamal states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The main material is started with a keynote speech from the Chairman for the Board of Commissioner, Indonesia Financial Service Authority (OJK), Prof. Wimboh Santoso, who delivers an overview on the condition of sharia banking in Indonesia from 2020-2021. Prof. Wimboh also explains that Indonesia is the best destination for halal tourism, proved with the value of halal product trade value or halal industry reaching 3 billion USD. \u201cTherefore, the role of Islamic finance and banking can become a leading sector and significantly contribute to economic and social growth in Indonesia,\u201d Prof. Wimboh states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Ten speakers from reputable international institutions and universities are invited to deliver material related to contemporary issues in the Islamic economy. The first speaker Prof. M. Kabir Hassan from the University of New Orleans, USA, explains that the current Islamic finance system is implemented alongside the conventional financial system. The key factors behind the rapid development of sharia finance are the Muslim population, the urge to follow shari\u2019a in daily consumption, and different motivations in politic. Material presentation is followed by Prof. Hussein A. Abdou from the University of Central Lancashire, UK, who analyzes the development of Islamic fintech globally, fintech, and opportunities as well as challenges for Islamic finance due to the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The current condition of the Islamic finance industry and the non-Islamic financial institution also discussed by the Director of the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS), Dr. Taufiq Hidayat. In his presentation, Dr. Taufik Hidayat explains the KNEKS plan for the Islamic finance development for 2020-2025. further information on the sharia economy in Indonesia is followed by a presentation from the Director of Sharia Financing Ministry of Finance, Indonesia, Dwi Irianti, M.A., who explains the development of sovereign Sukuk in Indonesia, future development, and its impact on the Islamic economy. \u201cIndonesia is a famous Sukuk issuer in the world, followed by Saudi Arabia,\u201d Dwi Irianti, explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The following presentation is delivered by a representative of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) Malaysia, Prof. Mansor H. Ibrahim. Prof. Mansor introduce the Islamic finance system and provides proof of the impact of Islamic finance in economic development and income distribution, as well as the challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The sixth speaker comes from the Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar, Prof. Ahmet Faruk Aysan. Presenting his material, Prof. Aysan states that many Islamic Fintech comes from developing countries. However, to further develop it, the actors should not only focused on Islamic finance but also on what is happening globally. There are many things that Islamic Fintech can offer to the world. Discussion on Islamic fintech is continued by a presentation from Dr. Mariani Abdul-Majid, an associate professor from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Dr. Mariani explains that the real contemporary issues faced by Islamic finance and banking are financial inclusion and financial technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTherefore, the potential that can reduce this issue is the development of Islamic finance and banking through fintech,\u201d Dr. Mariani Abdul-Majid states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The eighth speaker from Universitas Padjajaran Indonesia, Prof. Dian Masyita, explains the various challenges that will be faced by sharia finance and banking in the digital transformation era. Reaching the end of the webinar, Dr. Fakarudin Kamarudin from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) delivers material on globalization point of view in financial technology and Islamic finance development. Closing the presentation session, Tastaftiyan Risfandy, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UNS) briefly explains the governance mechanism in Islamic banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Participants were showing their enthusiasm during the question and answer session, which marks the end of the webinar.
