This occasion discusses the history of UNS, inviting Drs. Hari Mulyadi, M.Pd., an author of a book on UNS History and four other speakers. The four invited speakers are the Chair of IKA UNS, Ir. Budi Harto, MM., the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, the Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNS, Prof. Djoko Suhardjanto, and the Dean of Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) UNS, Prof. Warto. The Wedangan IKA series is a routine session to strengthen the networking among UNS alumni. Additionally, the Wedangan IKA UNS XLIX is organized as part of the UNS 45th Anniversary Celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Led by Dr. Sunny Ummul Firdaus as moderator, the event was opened with a short remark from Prof. Jamal. He explains that there will be several events marking the celebration of UNS 45th Anniversary, such as six new Professors&#8217; inauguration, academic open senate meeting, and art performance on March 20, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Since established on 11 March 1976, UNS has seen excellent development and progress.<br>\u201cDuring its 45 years, I have met young alumni both in the work environment and in the community setting. What an excellent development!\u201d express Ir. Budi Harto, MM., as the Chair of IKA UNS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The glory brings Ir. Budi Harto back to his youth, that time when he was a student in the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS. He recounts that at that period, the UNS building is located in Slamet Riyadi Street, Solo. Back then, FT UNS only have seven lecturers, consisted of 3 lecturers with mathematic backgrounds, and the other 4 have a civil engineering background. Currently, UNS has received a status as PTNBH and succeeded in graduating an enormous number of graduates with an active contribution to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Further, Ir. Budi Harto expresses his hope to organize a mentoring and sharing session after the pandemic ends, to establish and strengthen the networking between UNS alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Other than preparing excellent graduates, UNS also takes a role in advancing National culture, especially Java. Taking a Javanese proverb \u2018Nguri-Uri Budaya Jawa\u2019, the Dean of FIB UNS, Prof. Warto states that since its establishment, UNS has implemented cultural foundation as its main value. This was in line with the vision and mission as well as the UNS logo. Based on its logo interpretation, UNS is highly committed to developing and maintaining the national culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUNS is established because of the plan to open a Javanese Literature Study Program. This becomes the commitment of UNS in developing and safeguarding the national culture,\u201d Prof. Warto explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">In term of art and culture development, UNS also has an equally strong commitment. This proved with the establishment of PUI Javanologi and an annual agenda \u2018Museum Goes to Campus\u2019. Even more, UNS organized a Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet) performance, macapat and Javanese poetry competition, painting competition, performance, and International Essay Competition with a theme \u201cLiving in A Good And Global Civilization\u201d, to celebrate its 45th Anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The author of UNS History, Drs.
