{"id":28834,"date":"2021-04-27T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/?p=28834"},"modified":"2021-04-27T11:54:57","modified_gmt":"2021-04-27T04:54:57","slug":"chief-of-uns-public-relation-office-shared-the-strategy-to-achieve-world-class-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/chief-of-uns-public-relation-office-shared-the-strategy-to-achieve-world-class-library\/","title":{"rendered":"Chief of UNS Public Relation Office Shared the Strategy to Achieve World-Class Library"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UNS<\/strong> &#8212; In line with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta\u2019s target to enter the Best 500 Global Universities, the Technical Implementing Unit of Library UNS continues to improve and develop various services to provide its best contribution for the literacy development in meeting the world criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto, as the Chief of Technical Implementing Unit of Public Relations and Media UNS, stated that based on the International Library for World Class University, a world-class library has several criteria. These criteria are collection, service, facilities, librarian criteria, annual funds, and international collaboration. The world-class library has a collection of more than one million books, more than 300 subscriptions and accessible online database, access to more than 10,000 e-book titles, acquisition of at least 10,000 books per year, and storing more than 90% of academic member\u2019s works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor services, it should open for more than 80 hours a week, from Monday to Sunday, literature search performed by more than four experts (Ph.D) in a subject and four resource person (Master). Then conducting information literacy\/skill\/training,\u201d Dr. Deddy explained in Libary Public Relations Workshop held by UNS Library on Thursday (22\/4\/2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Deddy also explained the aspects further in various public relations strategies for the World-Class University library. First, communication strategy and formation of public opinion. In this strategy, public relation needs to understand its audience by comprehending the issues around them, the media used by the audience, and the appropriate language to deliver information to their audience. He added that messages should be delivered in an exiting language, adjusted diction, and containing suggestions or solutions for a need. \u201c(They also) need to decide the method and media. Whether (they will) use writing content, graphic design, letter, or video,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second, operational and social responsibility strategy. This strategy is a form of the institute\u2019s concern over the external environment through its activities. It aims to maintain the environment, community norms, participation in development, and meet other social responsibilities. Dr. Deddy gave an example of maximizing technology-based public services according to the public characteristics, conducting special training to improve employees and people around UNS skills, conducting remote periodical library, and providing facilities and infrastructures for international students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The third strategy is collaboration and business. The library needs to determine the partnerships it needs, understand potential partners\u2019 characters, conduct an approach to potential partners, maintain good relationships through a visit, invite partners in its activities, and maintain pro-active communication. The fourth strategy supports the existing ranking for the public relations field by understanding and adjusting to the assessment criteria from each ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Library also needs to maximize the public relation\u2019s role as the main information channel for the public, providing creative, educative, and innovative content from UNS academic members, and maintain good collaboration with national and international partners.
