Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A., encouraged UNS students to develop start-up in tourism and economy creative fields amid the pandemic. He mentioned this in the Business Model Canvas Competition International Webinar held by the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta on Monday (26\/4\/2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the webinar held through the Zoom Cloud Meeting and FEB UNS Official YouTube Channel, Sandiaga Uno stated that based on the Opus Economy Creative Outlook 2020 data, Indonesia\u2019s creative economy sector is predicted to contribute up to 1,100 trillion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Placing Indonesia in the third place for creative economy sector contribution to the national GDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Covid-19 pandemic affects the creative economy sub-sectors, which almost all showed a decreased contribution to the GDP. However, two sub-sectors show positive values on the GDP growth, application &amp; game developer and television &amp; radio. \u201cApplication and game developer continues to increase, including e-sport. The industry is worth 16 trillion. Television and radio also developed because people spend time at home, including \u2018Ikatan Cinta\u2019 (red: title of Indonesia television drama),\u201d Sandiaga Uno explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three sub-sectors that had a high contribution to the GDP, fashion, culinary, and craft, showed a significant decline as the industry has not yet adapted to digitalization. The MSMEs have not fully utilized e-commerce and other platforms supporting and facilitating them to transform their business into a digital business. \u201cSome have started, but it is still limited,\u201d Sandiaga Uno said. He added that the challenge for the creative economy in 2021 is how to transform conventional MSMEs into a digital base business because business globally has shifted to ensure health, hygiene, touch-less, less crowded, and low mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interestingly, Sandiaga Uno mentioned that Indonesia has 170.9 million young population in the millennial and Gen Z, which will serve as a democratic bonus for Indonesia\u2014posing both opportunities and challenges. Therefore, the government is inviting millennials, including UNS academic members, to start a business and become entrepreneurs. Sandiaga emphasized that the young generation needs to create jobs, not just seeking for jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCurrently there are 34 million people who live from tourism and creative economy. (We) need entrepreneurs to recover and develop this sector.
