UNS<\/a><\/strong> — Three students of Pharmacy Program Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta achieved other accomplishments at the national level. The UNS Team won two prizes in Rxpo Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), 1st place in the poster competition, and 3rd place in the Scientific Writing Competition (KTI). The three UNS students are Adinda Putri Febrina Sari, Vidiya Listiyani Saputri, and Putri Indah Nurani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To uns.ac.id, Putri Indah Nurani explained that the poster they submitted contains a campaign for the community on the importance of vaccination amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the infection rate is declining, it does not mean that there are no new cases and death due to Covid-19. The poster targeted community members who were reluctant to get the vaccination because they were wary of the side effects. The information in their poster could educate the community while supporting the development of communal immunity in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Team used \u201cSAKTI\u201d abbreviation to ease the community in understanding the benefits of vaccination. SAKTI stands for Siap beraktivitas karena aman dan terlindungi, Akan memutus rantai penularan Covid-19, Keluarga akan menjadi lebih aman, Tingkat penularan Covid-19 akan berkurang, and Imunitas atau herd immunity di masyarakat akan terbentuk (ready to have outdoor activities because of the protection, cut the spread of Covid-19, protecting family, reducing infection, and creating herd immunity).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTherefore, we created this posted with a hope to share knowledge with the community on the benefits of vaccination in reducing the spread of Covid-19 and inviting them to stop being hesitant in getting vaccinated,\u201d Putri stated on Wednesday (29\/12\/2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Three<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Team also prepared scientific writing on \u201cThe Formulation of Microneedle Patch from Nano Extract Bunga Telang (Clitoria ternatea) as Therapy for Diabetes Mellitus Type 2\u201d that won 3rd prize in the same competition. Their work was inspired by the increasing number of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) cases worldwide, especially in Indonesia that is ranked 7th in the largest number of DM cases globally. They proposed the idea of developing bunga telang as microneedle because of its secondary flavonoid metabolites (delphinine, kaempferol) which were found to have a benefit as medicine for DM type 2. Microneedle technology is used to improve the bio-availability and usability of bunga telang. This innovation was new in bunga telang processing which is usually only prepared as a tea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In winning the competition, the Team competed with other teams from various universities such as USU, Universitas Sriwijaya, and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This achievement is expected to inspire many people, and the Team hoped that the potential of bunga telang could be maximized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
