UNS<\/a><\/strong> — The Undergraduate and Professional Education Study Program in Midwifery<\/a>, Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a Preceptor Mentor Training for Lecturers and Clinical Instructure (CI). This is a learning activity undertaken by a midwifery student that includes clinical practice at health care facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this activity, students are accompanied by experienced CIs. Besides acting as a student\u2019s companion during their clinical practice, a CI is also expected to provide effective clinical teaching, including the development of clinical skills, knowledge, attitudes, and professional ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on these considerations, the Undergraduate and Professional Education Study Program in Midwifery FK UNS conducted the Preceptor Mentor Training from 6 July 2023 to 8 July 2023. Taking place at the Auditorium of FK UNS, the objective of this training was to enhance the competence of lecturers and CIs in fulfilling their roles as preceptors and mentors for midwifery students during their clinical practice at hospitals or other health care facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speakers for this training included Medical and Health Profession Education Expert, dr. Yoyo Suhoyo, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D. (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and Dr. Veronika Ika Budiastuti, dr., M.Pd. (UNS). They delivered lectures on selecting appropriate methods for guidance and assessment, the application of technology, and ethical issues in clinical guidance and assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these two speakers, this training also featured a Preceptor Mentor Team from Poltekkes Kementerian Semarang, including Dr. Runjati, M. Mid; Dr. Sri Rahayu, S.Kep.Ns. STr. Keb, M. Kes; Dr. Sri Sumarni, M. Mid; Elisa Ulfiana, SST., M. Kes.; Ida Aryanti, SST., M. Kes.; Rizki Amelia, SST., M.Kes and the Poltekkes Denpasar represented by Dr. Sri Rahayu, SKp, Ns, STr.Keb, M.Kes. This team provided insights on the concept of clinical guidance based on the National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) level, clinical learning issues, clinical learning strategies or principles, and clinical teaching models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Chairman of the Event Committee, Dr. Grhasta Dian Perestroika, S.ST., M.Kes., this training is crucial for lecturers and Cis to align their understanding of the functions and responsibilities of clinical mentoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cThe Preceptor Mentor Training aims to enhance the quality of guidance in midwifery practice settings. It is designed to strengthen the skills and knowledge of preceptors in providing effective guidance to students,” Dr. Grhasta said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is expected that this training will contribute to better and more beneficial guidance for students, improved quality of students\u2019 practical experiences, and a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities as preceptors.
