UNS<\/a><\/strong> — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta developed the Metaverse Anatomart application. This application facilitates the learning of human anatomy by bringing together lecturers and students in a virtual environment, enabling real-time interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This application was developed by the Immersive Technology Research Group in the D3 Informatics Engineering Study Program<\/a> at the Vocational School UNS, led by Fendi Aji Purnomo, S.Sc., M.Eng. The innovation arose from the challenges faced in studying anatomical organs, which were traditionally taught using cardavers that, in the long term, posed health concerns due to the use of preservatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Within Metaverse Anatomart, lecturers can create a virtual classroom and students can participate in the classes. The Metaverse Anatomart application can also be developed in collaboration with the Anatomy Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine (FK),” Fendi explained, Thursday (20\/7\/2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fendi added that the key feature of the Metaverse Anatomart application is that lecturers can control the learning topics for discussion by selecting specific anatomical organs provided in the virtual environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The virtual space also includes real-time audio dialogue. Up to 20 students can join the Metaverse Anatomart room, where they can interact with one another in the metaverse environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the implementation of the Metaverse Anatomart application, participants need the Ocullus Quest 2 headset to access the virtual space and engage in collaborative learning. Additionally, participants must have an internet connection to register their accounts and join the metaverse classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testing conducted by a team of lecturers and students of the FK Anatomy Laboratory, coordinated by Nanang Wiyono, dr., M.Kes., showed that the application can run smoothly and provide innovative possibilities for learning anatomy in the digital age. “Hopefully, the developed Metaverse Anatomart application will provide an alternative learning method that can be carried out anywhere and anytime and can be further developed for other educational subjects.
