UNS<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The Vocational School (SV) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, in collaboration with the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Indonesian General Insurance Association (AAUI) and PT Taspen<\/a>, held a guest lecture at the G.P.H Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium on Wednesday (6\/9\/2023). The guest lecture was initiated by the Diploma-3 Finance and Banking Study Program SV UNS with the theme “The Role of Financial Institutions in Protection and Risk Management”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 300 students from the Diploma-3 Finance and Banking, Diploma-3 Business Management, and Diploma-3 Taxation study programs attended the guest lecture. In his opening remarks, the Dean of SV UNS, Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto, M.Acc., A.K., emphasized the importance of understanding risk management since all activities involve risks. It is essential to create mitigation strategies to prevent risks from turning into damaging disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Let the potential risks surround us, but let us not be affected by disasters. Today’s speakers will provide insights from their respective fields so that both lecturers and students can understand the risks, especially in the financial sector, and avoid situations that are currently prevalent on television, mass media, and social media related to online loans, fraudulent investments, and more. We can avoid these situations if we know how to mitigate risks,” Santoso said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, the Acting Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business and Information UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., in his speech, expressed his gratitude to SV UNS for organizing the guest lecture.  He mentioned that UNS is the only campus that has had an MoU with LPS since 2012, and there is a lot of research from UNS available on the LPS website. Prof. Irwan also hoped that students would gain insights and knowledge from practitioners’ experiences regarding the financial services industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In today\u2019s digital era, many people use financial products without prior education and literacy, but they tried them and fell victim to online loan scams. This is a collective responsibility, not only for industry colleagues but also for stakeholders, including universities, to educate people about the financial services sector,” Prof. Irwan explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Irwan added that digital transformation in the financial sector should have a significantly greater positive impact, and negative impacts should be mitigated to avoid a quality gap in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guest lecture featured three speakers: Angling Khrisna Adhi, S.E., the Chairman of the AAUI Surakarta Branch and Head of the Solo MNC Insurance Indonesia as the first speaker; Anne Roosfianti, Branch Manager of PT Taspen Surakarta as the second speaker; and Imam Budhi Susanto, ERMCP, QRMO, Enterprise Risk Management Development Division Head of LPS as the third speaker. The session was moderated by Rosita Mei Damayanti, S.E., M.Rech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the guest lecture discussed risk management, the introduction of the general insurance industry as protection and risk management, and Taspen products and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the speakers, Angling Khrisna Adhi, S.E, also talked about risk management. “Many financial institutions, such as financing institutions, banks, leasing companies, and finance companies, need to analyze and manage the risks when providing credit. Similarly, people also need to understand the risks they will face when applying for insurance, credit, or investments by learning about and being literate in these financial institutions beforehand,” Khrisna said.
