UNS<\/a><\/strong> — Students participating in the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata<\/em> or KKN) Universtas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, as part of the Village Development Initiative 2023, developed an application and a website for the residents of Giriroto Village, Ngemplak District, Boyolali. This program is conducted under the direct guidance of the Secretary of the UNS Academic Senate, Prof. Ir. Ari Handono Ramelan M.Sc (Hons), Ph.D., who serves as the Field Supervisor (DPL). These two innovations are used to empower society by utilizing advances in information technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students, who are part of the KKN UNS group 45, developed the website www.jagajagunggiriroto.com<\/a><\/em> to quickly diagnose corn plant diseases. Additionally, this website provides appropriate solutions for the diagnosed diseases. Fawwaz Ivandra, a student of the Informatics study program (Prodi) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNS, is the developer of this website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This collaboration aims to provide solutions in the fields of agriculture and health, with the hope of improving the quality of life and productivity in Giriroto Village,” Fawwaz Ivandra said as the leader of the KKN Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To uns.ac.id, Fawwaz Ivandra explained the steps for using the website. Users only need to fill out a form based on the symptoms experienced by the corn plant. Subsequently, the website generates a diagnosis result. By using this website, residents can identify diseases affecting corn plants and receive appropriate control measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the development of the “Jaga Jagung Giriroto<\/em>” website, various positive outcomes have been achieved for the people of Giriroto village. Farmers’ knowledge of diseases threatening corn crops has increased significantly. They now have better abilities to detect early disease symptoms, which, in turn, helps prevent wider spread. Time and cost efficiency are also benefits, as farmers can diagnose on their own without the need for agricultural experts, allowing for faster action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the UNS students have developed the Giriroto Care application, which is available on the Play Store. This application can be used by the residents of Giriroto Village for early disease detection. It also provides specific guidance for addressing reported issues. Arizona Adi Pradana, a student of the Law study program at the Faculty of Law (FH) UNS, is the developer of this application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During its development, Arizona analyzed information about disease to be detected using data sets collected from the internet, serving as the basis for the analysis and development of this application. It was developed using Android Studio with the Kotlin programming language and Google’s Firebase API.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results of this project are very satisfying, as Giriroto Care allows users to input their disease symptoms and then provides rapid disease detection results using the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both innovations developed by the UNS students were created during the KKN period, which lasted from July to August 2023. After they were completed, the students conducted outreach to housewives in Embung Giriroto. The application created by Arizona Adi Pradana can be downloaded from the Play Store through the link uns.id\/girirotocare<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
