UNS<\/a><\/strong> — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta officially inaugurated the Traditional Fermentation Research Collaboration Center (PKR) on Wednesday (1\/11\/2023). The inauguration took place at the Supratoyo Building Hall, Faculty of Agriculture<\/a> (FP) UNS. The event was attended by the faculty\u2019s leadership, lecturers, and FP UNS students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The establishment of the Traditional Fermentation PKR is the result of a collaboration between FP UNS and the Applied Microbiology Research Center (PRMT) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). This PKR also involves the Faculty of Pharmacy, Gadjah Mada University (UGM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairman of the Traditional Fermentation PKR, M. Zukhrufuz Zaman, Ph.D., stated that the inauguration of this PKR had the support of all parties involved. One form of direct support from BRIN this year was the provision of a grant of IDR 230 million as part of the Research Collaboration Center Facilitation program. In the first and second years, traditional fermentation research will be primarily focused on the food and functional metabolite production fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Research Collaboration Center Facilitation program is a multi-year program, so next year BRIN will also provide grants of approximately the same value to support the operational activities of this PKR,” Zukhrufuz Zaman, Ph.D. said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dean of FP UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samanhudi, S.P., M.Sc., IPM, ASEAN Eng., expressed that collaboration with BRIN has been carried out for a long time in various forms, including student internships, collaborative research, and joint publications. He stated that the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between FP UNS and PRMT BRIN has been in effect since 2022. This year, its implementation takes the form of initiating the Traditional Fermentation PKR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Even though the initiation of this PKR is led by the Food Technology Study Program (Prodi), we hope that this PKR can be expanded to involve other relevant study programs. Traditional fermentation methods are used in various fields, so the collaboration between the UNS Faculty of Agriculture and PRMT BRIN will become even stronger,” Prof. Samanhudi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director of the Directorate of Cooperation, Development, and Internationalization UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohamad Harisudin, M.Si., representing the Rector of UNS, welcomed the presence of the first PKR at UNS. This PKR is evidence that the UNS\u2019s collaborative performance is indeed outstanding. Therefore, it is not surprising that in 2023, according to the assessment by the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Diktiristek), UNS achieved the highest ranking in Indonesia for the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of higher education institutions in the field of collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Harisudin also expressed his gratitude and hope that the UNS and BRIN\u2019s collaboration will continue to grow in various fields, bringing benefits to the development of both institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inauguration of the PKR was marked by a traditional Indonesian ceremonial dish known as \u201ctumpeng\u201d cutting and a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the PKR office. The office is located on the 4th floor of Building E at FP UNS. This event was witnessed by Prof. Harisudin, Prof. Samanhudi, Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UNS, Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, Deputy for Research and Innovation Facilitation, Prof. Dr. Agus Haryono, Head of the BRIN OR for Biological and Environmental Affairs, Dr. Iman Hidayat, Director of Research and Innovation Funding at BRIN, Dr. Ajeng Arum Sari, Head of PRMT BRIN, Dr. Ahmad Fathoni, and Chairman of the Traditional Fermentation PKR, Dr. M. Zukhrufuz Zaman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event continued with a “Workshop on Functional and Fermented Foods with Metabolics Approach”. Additionally, a series of guest lectures was organized for students in the Food Technology Study Program UNS, featuring guest lecturers from BRIN, including Dr. Ahmad Fathoni, Dr. Dandy Yusuf, Dr. R. Haryo Bimo Serarto, Dr. Sulisrani, and Dr. Fera Roswita Dewi. Humas UNS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
