UNS<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The Alumni Association of the Doctoral Program (S-3) in Indonesian Language Education at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta organized The 3rd International Conference of Humanities and Social Science (ICHSS). The conference was themed “Examining Socio-Cultural Problems, Language, Literature, and Art to Uplift the Nation\u2019s Civilization.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event featured keynote speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Andayani, M.Pd., from UNS; Cultural and Educational Attach\u00e9 at the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, France, Dr. Luh Anik Mayani; Lecturer at Chiang Mai University, Thailand, Dr. Suhailee Sohnoul; Lecturer at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Dr. Aninditya Sri Nugraheni, M.Pd.; and Lecturer at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, Prof. Dr. Imroatus Solikhah, M.Pd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event commenced with a remark from the Head of the Doctoral Program in Indonesian Language Education at FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Andayani, M.Pd. In her speech during the virtual event held on Wednesday (27\/12\/2023), she conveyed that the conference is an international forum aimed at advancing the Indonesian language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This conference uses Indonesian as its introductory language. This is a manifestation of our adherence to Law Number 24 of 2009, Article 32, paragraph 1, which states that Indonesian must be used in national and international forums in Indonesia and abroad. The output of this international conference is proceedings indexed internationally by EAI-EUDL (European Alliance for Innovation from the European Union Digital Library). Also, this activity was expected to generate contemporary ideas in the field of social humanities,” Prof. Andayani explained in a press release received by uns.ac.id on Wednesday (10\/1\/2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Luh Anik Mayani, in her presentation, discussed language and cultural diplomacy at the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, France. According to her, language diplomacy in Indonesian is the responsibility of all parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Collaboration for language diplomacy needs to be done by all parties, including the diaspora, the Indonesian community, stakeholders, universities, and others,” Dr. Luh explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Suhaile presented research on the comparison of language and literature in Thailand and Indonesia. According to her, Indonesian is an interesting and easily understandable language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Indonesian is a simple and diverse language. Its status as the official language of ASEAN makes Indonesian an attractive language for people in Thailand,” Dr. Suhaile said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Aninditya explained the analysis of Indonesian language policy as a compulsory subject at the high school level in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Indonesia and Australia have a close relationship. Australia provided significant support to Indonesia during the struggle for independence at the United Nations in 1940,” Dr. Aninditya said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Imroatus explained the material about curriculum reform in global competition, transformation of learning, and translation abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference activities continued with parallel sessions for the presenters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
