UNS<\/a><\/strong> — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta committed to increasing the number of professors. This was stated by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., after inaugurating four new professors at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium on Tuesday (16\/1\/2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The success in increasing the number of professors is part of UNS’ commitment to continuously target the improvement of human resources (HR) quality and the quality of the implementation of the Higher Education Tri Dharma,” Prof. Jamal explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly appointed professors will stake their names and scientific honor, and their intellectual dedication is expected to build a bridge between scientific disciplines and societal progress. In the face of the current global dynamics, scholarship must be grounded, responsive, and adaptable to various changes in society. The readiness of knowledge, especially in facing an era with its inherent uncertainty, demands flexibility and a transdisciplinary perspective. This is a significant challenge for professors who wish to remain relevant globally. Critical, creative, and productive thinking in academic spaces today can no longer be done in isolation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A professor, synonymous with a scientist or scholar, should start stepping out of their comfort zone and not worry about their knowledge being tainted by other fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the world continues to grow and evolve, the presence of intellectuals capable of synergizing, collaborating, and sharing knowledge to find comprehensive solutions to national problems is crucial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holding the highest academic functional position, namely Professor, carries the consequence that a professor is at least contractually obliged to carry out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, write books, publish scientific papers in international journals, and disseminate ideas. If these requirements are not met, the professorship will be revoked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Therefore, it is not wrong for us as university leaders to ask professors to be ready to dedicate themselves to productive work and always contribute their best to the development of science, art, and technology,” Prof. Jamal said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this occasion, Prof. Jamal inaugurated four new professors. Firstly, Prof. Dr. Peduk Rintayati, M.Pd., is the 78th Professor at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) and the 299th at UNS. She was inaugurated as a Professor in the field of Elementary School Science Education with an inaugural speech entitled ‘Strengthening Environmental Empathy in Elementary Schools through the Stimulation of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) as an Effort for Environmental Preservation.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, Prof. Dr. dr. Trisulo Wasyanto, SpJP (K), FIHA, FAPSC, FAsCC., is the 49th Professor at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and the 300th at UNS. He was inaugurated as a Professor in the field of Heart and Blood Vessels Intensive Care and Emergency Cardiovascular Care with an inaugural speech entitled ‘The Role of Novel Biomarkers in the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Acute Myocardial Infarction.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirdly, Prof. Dr. Indah Widiastuti, S.T., M.Eng., is the 79th Professor at FKIP and the 301st at UNS. She was inaugurated as a Professor in the field of Material Engineering with an inaugural speech entitled ‘Exploration of Recycled Plastic-Based Materials in Strengthening Green Skills in Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET).’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fourthly, Prof. Dr. Sc. Agr. Ir. Rahayu, S.P., M.P., is the 45th Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) and the 302nd at UNS.
