{"id":38374,"date":"2024-07-12T15:33:28","date_gmt":"2024-07-12T08:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/?p=38374"},"modified":"2024-07-12T15:33:30","modified_gmt":"2024-07-12T08:33:30","slug":"ft-uns-students-win-geotechnical-competition-trophy-at-civil-classical-fest-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/ft-uns-students-win-geotechnical-competition-trophy-at-civil-classical-fest-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"FT UNS Students Win Geotechnical Competition Trophy at Civil Classical Fest 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\">UNS<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Students from the <a href=\"https:\/\/sipil.ft.uns.ac.id\/\">Civil Engineering Study Program<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ft.uns.ac.id\/\">Faculty of Engineering (FT)<\/a> Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta have secured first place in the Geotechnical Competition at the Civil Classical Fest 2024 held at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umy.ac.id\/\">Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team, named Semar Larry, was composed of Abdul Aziz Kamal, Aditya Arif Febrianto, and Imtinan Nurfauziyah. Their participation in the Geotechnical Competition stemmed from their curiosity to solve issues in the construction world, particularly concerning soft soil problems (in the field of Geotechnics). Motivated by this case, the Semar Larry team registered to compete in the Geotechnical Competition at the Civil Classical Fest (GC CCF) UMY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GC CCF competition is a national-level geotechnical competition organized by the<a href=\"https:\/\/tekniksipil.umy.ac.id\/\"> Civil Engineering Student Association of FT UMY.<\/a> The competition&#8217;s theme, \u201cImproving Soil with the Application of Soil Preloading, PVD, and PHD for Consolidation Settlement Analysis,\u201d encouraged students to present ideas and innovations for improving soft soil. The GC CCF UMY competition began with the creation and submission of proposals from April 30, 2024, to May 27, 2024. The finalists were announced on June 3, 2024, with the Semar Larry team advancing to the presentation stage at UMY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo analyze and solve the soft soil problem, we used a combination of soil preloading, PVD, and PHD to accelerate the compression process. This combination is necessary because natural compression takes hundreds of years, while using these three methods reduces the time to just 21 weeks. Our analysis started by considering the settlement in the area under a working load, such as a house load (25 kPA). Following the SNI 8460 Year 2017 Geotechnical Design Requirements, we designed an elevated embankment considering the pressure ratio. Additionally, we planned the spacing with the PVD and PHD patterns and implemented geotechnical instruments to monitor soil movement,\u201d Imtinan explained, as quoted from <a href=\"http:\/\/ft.uns.ac.id\/\">ft.uns.ac.id<\/a> on Thursday (11\/7\/2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposal presentation took place on June 15, 2024, with the awarding session held in the evening. During the awarding session, Semar Larry won first place in the GC CCF UMY 2024 competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team&#8217;s advisor, Dr. Ir. Galuh Chrismaningwang, S.T., M.T., a lecturer in the Geotechnics research group at FT UNS, assisted the Semar Larry team in preparing their proposal and continually motivated them to deliver their best. Case resolution information based on the advisor\u2019s experience and real field conditions was provided during several discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are very grateful to everyone who supported our team, including our advisor and fellow assistants. This competition provided us with valuable experiences in problem-solving and time management, as it coincided with our final semester exams.
