UNS<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The 14th Waqf Goes to Campus (WGTC) event in Solo Raya commenced with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta<\/a> and the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI)<\/a>. The event took place in person at the G.P.H Haryo Mataram Auditorium at UNS on Wednesday (6\/11\/2024), attended by UNS Rector Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., and BWI Chair Prof. Dr. Phil. H. Kamaruddin Amin, M.A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remarks, Prof. Hartono emphasized the crucial role of waqf in enhancing development and empowering both education and the broader community. He expressed UNS\u2019s strong commitment to actively support productive waqf management, noting, \u201cThe MoU we are signing today is a pivotal step in maximizing the role of waqf as an instrument for empowerment and development. As a higher education institution, UNS is committed to advancing society, particularly by supporting and strengthening productive waqf management that impacts various sectors, including the economy, social welfare, and education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This MoU aims to foster synergy between UNS and BWI<\/a>, facilitating initiatives that will benefit society. Prof. Hartono added, \u201cWe hope this MoU will lead to programs that are not only theoretical but also practical, enabling the benefits of productive waqf to be felt directly by the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BWI<\/a> Chair Prof. Kamaruddin noted that this collaboration is part of an effort to broaden public awareness of cash waqf. He underscored that waqf can be a powerful tool for advancing society and improving education quality, assuring that the management of waqf funds will maintain high standards of credibility, integrity, and permanence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scope of the MoU includes collaborative efforts to support the core functions of higher education, particularly in enhancing human resource quality and promoting cash waqf as a means of advancing education and community welfare. This agreement is set to remain in effect for three years from the signing date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNS-BWI<\/a> partnership supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1, \u201cNo Poverty,\u201d by empowering vulnerable populations, and aligns with SDG 4, \u201cQuality Education,\u201d aimed at improving and equalizing educational opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
