UNS<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The Faculty of Engineering (FT)<\/a> at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS)<\/a>, Surakarta, continues to demonstrate its commitment to green energy initiatives. In a strategic collaboration with the Sukoharjo Regency Government<\/a>, FT UNS has launched a program to convert fuel-powered government motorcycles into electric motorcycles, marking a significant step toward energy transition and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the program’s initial phase, six government motorcycles from Sukoharjo’s Regional Government Agencies (OPD)<\/a> were successfully converted into electric motorcycles. The conversion process was conducted at FT UNS’s workshop, which holds an official license from the Ministry of Transportation as a certified conversion workshop. The electric motorcycles were handed over to the Sukoharjo Regency Government during a ceremony at Menara Wijaya Building on Wednesday (18\/12\/2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Widodo, Sukoharjo’s Regional Secretary, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration. \u201cThis program aligns with the central government’s policy to promote converting conventional vehicles to electric vehicles. We hope this initiative will continue with increased budget support in the future and subsidies from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Ir. Wahyudi Sutopo, S.T., M.Si, IPU, Dean of FT UNS, highlighted the program’s significance. \u201cOur focus is not only on technological development but also on direct implementation in the community. By converting government motorcycles, we are contributing to reducing carbon emissions and promoting energy efficiency,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to being environmentally friendly, the use of electric vehicles offers economic benefits. This conversion significantly reduces vehicle operational costs, aiming to encourage Sukoharjo to develop a broader electric vehicle ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Widodo added that the success of this initial phase inspires optimism for further development. \u201cWe want Sukoharjo to serve as a model for other regions, showing that the transition to clean energy is not only feasible but also delivers significant benefits for the environment and society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FT UNS reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and strategic partnerships to support Indonesia’s carbon neutrality goals. The program emphasizes not just technology but also sustainability and collaboration, aiming to serve as a model for other regions in developing eco-friendly transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the support of all stakeholders, the partnership between FT UNS and the Sukoharjo Regency Government serves as tangible proof that academia and government can synergize to create significant changes for a greener future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
