UNS<\/a> <\/strong>\u2013 Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held its 49th Dies Natalis<\/a> Commemoration Ceremony on Monday (10\/3\/2025). The event took place in the courtyard of dr. Prakosa Building. In his speech, UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., reaffirmed the university\u2019s dedication to fostering excellent and inclusive education. He emphasized its role as a key driver for national independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dies Natalis\u2019 theme is “Governance Transformation at UNS Towards Excellent, Inclusive, and Impactful Education and Research for National Independence<\/em>.” It highlights the university\u2019s response to evolving global challenges. Prof. Hartono emphasized the need for synergy among all academic communities to enhance UNS\u2019 performance. He stated that this effort aligns with the university\u2019s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing Global Challenges in Higher Education<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“Higher education institutions face increasing challenges, particularly due to the rapid advancement of information and communication technology. These changes require universities to transform, adapt their business models, and strengthen their competitive advantages,” Prof. Hartono stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also noted that a dynamic and uncertain global landscape demands universities to be adaptive and flexible. This adaptability is essential to ensuring sustained growth and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universities\u2019 Role in National Development<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beyond producing high-quality graduates, universities must contribute to national independence and economic growth. Universities can achieve this by developing innovations and conducting research that provides tangible solutions to societal challenges. This principle aligns with the Asta Cita program<\/a>, a national initiative that promotes independence across various sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening the Spirit of Governance Transformation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In light of these challenges, Prof. Hartono encouraged all members of UNS to reflect on the significance of the 49th Dies Natalis. He emphasized that it should be seen as more than just a ceremony. In addition, he urged them to embrace governance transformation as a driving force for continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We must cultivate a culture of excellence in education, research, and community service. At the same time, we should strive to be more innovative, inclusive, and environmentally conscious. It is equally important to uphold the values of Pancasila,” he asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Vision for the Future<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Approaching its half-century milestone, UNS has made significant achievements in higher education. Prof. Hartono remains optimistic that the university will continue its upward trajectory. He believes this progress will be guided by key strategies outlined in the 2024\u20132029 strategic plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We deeply appreciate the dedication, hard work, and prayers of the entire UNS academic community. Our goal is to elevate UNS onto the international stage while maintaining a strong commitment to serving society. This way, UNS will not only be a source of pride for Solo Raya but also for Indonesia as a whole,” he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
