Fake information or hoax caused great conflicts between Internet users\u201d as what Agus Dwi Priyanto, S.S., M.CALL stated in a general lecture focusing on social media held by Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Sebelas Maret (FIB UNS), Thursday (19\/1\/2017).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4920\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4920\" style=\"width: 2853px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_5956-1-1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4920 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/uns.ac.id\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_5956-1-1.jpg\" width=\"2853\" height=\"1902\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4920\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Agus addressed on issues about social media hoaxes. Thursday (19\/1\/2017)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the general lecture discussing on social media hoaxes, this English Literature lecturer explained how to deal with these slews of information, readers must do BIJAK (\u201cwise\u201d in English, \u2013red) that stands for: <em>Bidik <\/em>(Aim), which means we have to notice the content of information more than whom we receive it from; <em>Investigasi <\/em>(Investigate), which means we must ensure that the information is true before sharing it to others; <em>Jelajah <\/em>(Explore), which means we have to compare the same information on other websites; <em>Analisis <\/em>(Analyze), which means we must be able to analyze the neutrality of information, whether they take side or not; <em>Kritis <\/em>(Critical), which means we have to think carefully and consider the effects or what might happen after sharing the information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This alumus of University of Melbourne also stated that those social media users need to increase their information literacy, \u201cWhat we need to increase is information literacy. We have to be wise in receiving or sharing any kinds of information from and to other social media users\u201d.
