UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta student won another national-level achievement. Isnadiah Youwanda Wardani, a student of English Language and Literature Program Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), won the 2nd prize in the national short story writing competition held by Student Association (UKM) Sasarasti Community Club (SSC) FIB UNS. In an interview with uns.ac.id on Saturday (26/12/2021), Isna explained that she made a short story titled “Bau Kesederhanaan” (the scent of simplicity).
“The short story tells a story of a teenager who helped their friend’s mother when she was confused when facing technology advancement,” Isna stated.
She added that the story was inspired by her personal experience of being nearly trapped in an online scam.
“At first, I wanted to use online scams as the main topic of my short story. However, after rethinking, I felt that the topic was kind of hard to be applied in the short story that I wanted to write. Thus, I redirect it into parents’ confusion in facing modern technology,” she added.
Isna, who loves writing short stories, admitted that she was delighted and surprised with the result. She also hoped that she could win other competitions.
“Hopefully, by achievement brought pride for the program, faculty, and university, and for my parents. To my fellows, continue working and developing your interests,” Isna concluded. Humas UNS
