This workshop activity was chaired by Prof. Dr. Suyitno, M.Pd. with Prof. Dr. Retno Winarni, M.Pd .; Prof. Dr. St. Y Slamet, M.Pd.; Prof. Dr. Andayani, M.Pd .; Dr. Septi Yulisetiani, M.Pd; Drs. Muhammad Ismail S, M.Pd .; and Ari Suryawati Secio Chaesar, S.Pd., M.Pd.

Prof. Andayani as the Head of the PBI S-3 Study Program FKIP UNS explained that this workshop was a form of implementing tertiary education tridharma by service-based lecturers.

“This workshop on integrating Indonesian literacy is an implementation of the tridharma of tertiary education to carry out teaching, research, and community service. This workshop is expected to increase the competence of elementary school teachers in integrating language literacy for students in elementary schools,” Prof. Andayani said in her speech.

Then the activity continued with the material presentation by Dr. Septi Yulisetiani, M.Pd. who presented material on “ICT-based Indonesian Literacy in Learning in Elementary Schools.”

“IT-based language literacy is manifested by the use of applications and technology to help someone improve their language skills and gain a better understanding. The implementation of IT-based language literacy can take advantage of various applications such as Duolingo, Kahoot, Mentimeter, KBBI, and others,” Dr. Septi said.

Then, the next presentation was delivered by Ari Suryawati, M.Pd. who presented material on “Indonesian Language Learning with Ecoliteracy-Based Project Based Learning to Improve Critical Thinking Skills of Elementary School Students.”

“This project-based Indonesian language learning is directed to create a student-centered learning situation. Through the ecoliteracy approach, students are expected to have ecological literacy skills, namely awareness and sensitivity to protecting the environment,” Ari Suryawati said.

Suharni as the Headmaster of SDN Jombor 1 Sukoharjo was also pleased because through this activity she was able to gain new insights regarding the integration of language literacy in elementary schools.

“Furthermore, I hope that this can also add to the scientific repertoire of all teachers at SDN Jombor 1,” Suharni concluded. Humas UNS

Prof. Jamal highly appreciates the activities initiated by the PBI Doctoral Program, stating that, to this day, the humanities field of study has been underestimated under comparison with the exact science. However, the humanities field is crucial for society. This conference is a testament and an effort to elevate the dignity of the humanities field.
“This conference proves that humanities field of study is greatly needed by the community. This humanities science can maintain the unity and integrity of Indonesia, population,” said Prof. Jamal.

Other than re-introducing humanities science to the community, Prof. Jamal also considers that the conference could have a positive impact on the PBI Doctoral Program UNS. He also hopes that this conference can encourage the PBI doctoral students to be more productive in writing scientific articles, as well as researching according to the subject of their knowledge.

This year ICHSS invites three main speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Aisyah Endah Palupi, M.Pd., the Attaché for Education and Culture (Atdikbud), Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Manila, Philippines; Associate. Prof. Sukree Langputeh, Vice Chancellor for Foreign Relations at Fatoni University, Thailand; and Prof. Dr. Andayani, M.Pd., the Head of PBI Doctoral Study Program UNS.

The ICHSS 2021 organizing committee chairman, Dr. Imroatus Solikhah, M.Pd., states that aside from the main speakers, this international conference also prepares parallel sessions for the presenter participants. The presenter participants will present their articles, which the organizing committee has previously selected. The selected articles presented by the participants will be submitted to several affiliated journals and proceedings.

“There are 120 articles that will be submitted to affiliated journals and proceedings,” said Dr. Imroatus. Humas UNS
