UNS – Eleven students of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Universitas Sebelas Maret (FKIP UNS) Surakarta will be sent abroad for international Teaching Internship Program (PPL). They will teach for a month at schools in Thailand and the Philippines to increase competitiveness of future graduates on the global stage.

The students will be sent to various partner schools of several universities abroad as part of Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Project) program Batch IV, started on August 7, up to September 5, 2017.

FKIP UNS previously sent 6 students (Batch II) in July 2016 and 9 students (Batch III) in January 2017. UNS has also given Global Challenge 2017 travel grant to three FKIP students joining International PPL in Taiwan in October 2017.

During the send-off for International PPL students at FKIP UNS, Friday (28/7/2017), Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Munawir Yusuf stated that SEA-Teacher Project program is conducted by FKIP UNS in coordination with South East Asian Minister of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat.

“This program is held to increase teaching skills of our future teachers and to promote and improve mastery in English language,” said Munawir.

He also stated that International PPL is in line with UNS’ vision towards World Class University (WCU).

As an exchange, UNS has also welcomed several foreign students for teaching internship program as well. Students from the Philippines and Thailand will teach in SMPN 1 Solo (4 students) and TK Pembina Solo (3 students).

Two outstanding FKIP students joining the program, Egy Adhitama and Febriati Dian Mubarokah, revealed their preparations before departing. For almost a month, they focused on improving their language skills, lesson plan, pedagogic studies, and knowledge on local culture. humas-red.uns/Oss/Eln
