UNS – Three Students of Industrial Engineering Program Faculty of Engineering (known as FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the first place of Green Supply Chain competition in Yogyakarta (9-10/5/2018). Those three students are Izzatul Fitria Febriandini, Octavia Rizkadayanti, and Maria Nindy Alif Jodinesia. They successfully defeated other teams from many universities in Indonesia.
Green supply chain competition is a competition on supply chains that focuses on environmentally friendly values, from purchasing to the end of product. Octavia, Izza, and Nindy proposed an idea of the green supply chain on making salted eggs. According to the Octavia, the selection of salted eggs was based on the rampant foods that used salted eggs as a complementary or main ingredient.
“Since 2017, the use of salted egg as ingredients of various kinds of snacks has become the new trend. Then, we see this trend as an opportunity to create new product,” Octavia told.
Furthermore, Nindy explained that in their paper which was entitled Green Supply Chain on Salted Egg Industry, they emphasized the environmentally friendly values of procurement entities in suppliers, production entities, and distribution entities to consumers.
“So we reviewed some of the problems in salted eggs. We found that the quality of salted eggs had not been selected properly, so that we proposed a quality. We also proposed that brass dough can be used four times, as long as the texture is good and there is no aroma,” Nindy explained.
Preparation Process
For the preparation of the competition, Izza told that they initiated their preparation from March 2018. They conducted many surveys and observations to the salted egg traders around Solo. They also carried out many theoretical studies, and they consulted the studies with relevant lecturers.
“So we began our preparation on February to March in order to make a paper. The announcement of presentation to Yogyakarta was in April,” Izza mentioned.
Octavia also admitted that they did the presentation material only one night before the competition due to the tight schedule of each member in various campus activities. In fact, they said that they were worried about the limited time to learn the materials. In the end, they could give the best results. humas-red.uns.ac.id/Tni/Dty
