UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has renewed its collaboration with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Centre (Seameo Seamolec). This renewed partnership was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties, which took place in Meeting Room 1, dr. Prakosa Building UNS, on Monday (8/7/2024). Attendees of the memorandum signing included the Acting Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Information UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Director of the Directorate of Cooperation, Development, and Internationalization UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohamad Harisudin, M.Si.; Acting Vice Dean for Planning, Business Cooperation, and Information FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Triyanto, S.H., M.Hum., and Director of Seameo Seamolec, Dr. Wahyudi.
In his remarks, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho expressed gratitude to Seameo Seamolec for their ongoing cooperation. “Thank you for continuously trusting UNS, allowing this partnership to be renewed. Hopefully, the collaboration between UNS and Seameo Seamolec will bring mutual benefits,” Prof. Irwan said.
The memorandum aims to meet the needs and/or derive benefits for both parties in enhancing education, research, community service, and the development of open and distance education.

The scope of this memorandum includes education, research, and training; human resource development; information and computer technology development; publications and information; the utilization of science and technology; the exchange of scientific materials; institutional development support; the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program; and other fields agreed upon by both parties as long as they do not conflict with existing regulations.
The purpose of this memorandum is to establish cooperation in education, research, community service, and the development of open and distance education based on the principle of mutual benefit and in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
Meanwhile, Dr. Wahyudi, Director of Seameo Seamolec, stated that Seamolec is one of 26 regional centers under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (Seameo), focusing on Open and Distance Learning (ODL).
“Following the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the university, we will proceed with the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). We have an ongoing program with FKIP UNS, where we send students to teach abroad. Conversely, students from overseas universities come to UNS for teaching practice,” Dr. Wahyudi explained.
