UNS – Faculty of Cultural Sciences of Universitas Sebelas Maret (FIB UNS) Surakarta conducted a general lecture against terrorism entitled “Al-Wasathiyah wa-Taisir fi Muwajahatil Irhab wa Takfir” (moderateness and easeful principle: effort in facing terrorism and takfir concept),  Wednesday (20/9/2017).

In this occasion FIB invited Prof. Dr. Mohammad Emam Dawood, an expert on Arab Linguistics and Islamic Studies at Suez Canal University, Egypt. In his speech, Dawood said that terrorism is contrary with Islamic beliefs; it insists on global ruin. He added that terrorist make people anxious and steal resources of country.

According to Dawood, youth generations have to avoid terrorism and radicalism by studying. Furthermore, they have to be wise and smart in using social media. He emphasized that young people have to study with the experts because hoax information is spread everywhere in social media. Social media have become a tool to persuade them to join terrorist activities.

“Terrorism groups supported by professional groups use social media to spread their beliefs in a global scale. We have to do such a confirmation dealing with information that we get,” said Dawood. humas-red.uns/Ref/Eln
