UNS – A total of 10,291 new students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta have been officially inaugurated and affirmed. These students consist of 2,165 diploma program students and 8,126 undergraduate program students. The inauguration and affirmation of the new students were carried out directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., on Monday (21/8/2023) at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium.

In his remarks, Prof. Jamal conveyed his congratulations and success to them for their achievements in becoming new students of UNS for the academic year 2023/2024. The success of these new students in passing the rigorous university entrance selection at UNS is a journey to be grateful for. This is because the fierce competition for university seats is evidence that only a portion of people can win in such a competition.

“Your presence at UNS, the campus of Pancasila Fort and Pioneers, is truly our pride. Because you are the chosen ones who will one day bring glory to the name of UNS and the nation of Indonesia. And today, I have affirmed you as the new potential family at UNS,” he stated.

Prof. Jamal believes that UNS will be able to provide the best educational services and will encourage the achievements of these new students, helping them produce their best work for the advancement of UNS and Indonesia. He also encouraged all new students of UNS to nurture a sense of togetherness, tolerance, harmony, and nationalism in line with the values of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity). In the era of digitalization, issues of radicalism and the spread of fake news through the power of information technology have the potential to disrupt national unity.

“Let’s come together, to jointly maintain the atmosphere of our UNS campus, keeping it peaceful, comfortable, and conducive through positive activities,” Prof. Jamal emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., stated that all new students are divided among the 15 faculties and schools within UNS.

“UNS also accepted 26 prospective students through the University Affirmation Scholarship or ADik Scholarship program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, as well as 27 international prospective students through the UNS Scholarship, Partial UNS Scholarship, and self-funded routes,” he explained.

Following this, all new students will participate in the series Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the next few days, starting from 21 to 23 August 2023.
