UNS – The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, along with the university leaders received their first dose of Covid-19 Vaccine for the scholars, leaders, santri, university lecturers, and teachers located in Surakarta Great Hall (Pendopo Gede Balaikota Surakarta), Thursday (25/3/2021) noon.
In total 30 university leaders, which consist of Rector, Vices-Rector Directors, and Deans from each faculty in UNS got their first dose of the vaccine. On this occasion, Prof. Jamal received his vaccine alongside the Qur’an teacher of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gus Karim.
The vaccination for both individuals is witnessed by the Chief of the Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Kapolri), Jend. Pol. Listyo Sigit, and Surakarta City Major, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
After get vaccinated and waiting for 30 minutes, Prof. Jamal admits that he is healthy and does not feel any symptoms of the Post Vaccination Following Effect (KIPI).
“First, I want to thank you for this opportunity to receive the first vaccine in UNS, alongside Gus Karim and community leader in Solo,” Prof. Jamal states.
He admits that after getting vaccinated, he feels safe and appreciated the vaccination conducted by the Surakarta City Government to prevent Covid-19 spread. Prof. Jamal also states that after the university leaders the Vice-Dean and lecturers will be the next to get vaccinated. This vaccination will prioritize lecturers who are 60 years old and above.
“Yesterday in RSUD there are approximately 349 (person). Today is RKPU. After that, I will propose more vaccination for UNS academic staff. Actually, we have proposed for all of UNS members (t/n: to get vaccinated), however, the number of available vaccines is limited,” Prof. Jamal explains.
UNS Leaders’ Response After Getting Vaccinated
The Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan, who become one of the receivers, admit that he had prepared certain documents before coming to the City Hall (Pendopo Gede Balaikota). The documents are ID card (KTP), copy of ID card, letter of assignment, and identity. He states that he followed all vaccination stages obediently.
“The stages are screening, blood pressure checking, filling questionnaire/data on the previous allergy toward a vaccine. This to anticipate the negative effect of the vaccine. Alhamdulillah, all went well,” he admits.
Other than Prof. Sajidan, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNS, Prof. Djoko Suhardjanto, and the Director of Partnership, Development, and Internationalization UNS, Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D. also giving their responses after getting the vaccine.
Positive response is given by both Prof. Djoko and Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D. According to them, vaccination must be implemented immediately to allow the community to resume their normal activities.
“Before I was a little bit nervous. But after getting vaccinated, it is okay. This vaccine will make us live healthily. The Covid-19 spread can be stopped. This is good and I think the public and all apparatus, especially those who are in contact with the public must get vaccinated immediately. This is a great program,” Prof. Djoko states. Humas UNS
