UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta handed various bonuses to its students who won medals in the National Sports Week (PON) XX Papua 2021. The bonuses were handed directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, in a welcoming ceremony held in Ruang Sidang IV dr. Prakosa Rectorate Building UNS on Friday (22/10/2021).
In the ceremony, Prof. Jamal, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS Dr. Sapta Kunta and the Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS Prof. Ismi Dwi Astuti N., and Chief of Academic and Student Affairs Bureau UNS Drs. Rohman Agus Pratomo. In his remark, Prof. Jamal shared his gratitude for UNS students’ achievements and contributions who have won medals and made a name for UNS at the national level.
“A prideful achievement for UNS, and we prayed for the future events, both at national and international levels, to bring color to UNS,” Prof. Jamal stated.
With the bright achievements, Prof. Jamal mentioned that the students deserve abundant bonuses. The gold medalists received a free tuition fee (UKT), an opportunity to continue their study up to a Doctoral Degree in UNS, and development funds of IDR 4.5 million. The silver medalists received a free tuition fee, an opportunity for a free master’s program, and IDR 3.5 million development funds. “For the bronze medalist, you are freed from the tuition fee for your program in UNS and will receive development funds of IDR 2.5 million,” Prof. Jamal added.
On this occasion, the Dean of FKOR UNS, Dr. Sapta Kunta, thanked Prof. Jamal for giving his students abundant and various bonuses. He hoped that the bonuses could motivate other students to contribute to UNS at national and international competitions. “Because yesterday we have many related to international medals and bringing pride for Indonesia,” Dr. Sapta Kunta, who brought his trainees to win gold medals in the para-badminton championship of Tokyo Paralympics, stated.
UNS sent nine students to participate in PON XX Papua 2021 in DKI Jakarta and Central Java Contingent. The gold medalists from UNS are Janan Salma in Basketball, Lukman L. Hakim in Baseball, and Khoirudin Mustakim in pencak silat tanding class B. The silver medals were brought home by Fauziyyah Rahma in 4×200 meters freestyle relay women swimming and Agung Wahyudi in triple jump athletics. Ashifa’ Helsa in 200-meter dive pool, Nadia Haq U. N. C in pencak silat tanding class B, and Adira Kurniawati in team sabel fencing won the bronze medals.
During their stay in the easternmost province in Indonesia, UNS students have various unique experiences. Nadia Haq U. N. C, who won a bronze medal for Central Java Province, won her medal during her pregnancy. Khoirudin Mustakim, the gold medalist, ran 58 km from Salatiga to Klaten as a will he had before participating in PON XX Papua 2021.
