UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, took part in the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) held on Friday (12/8/2022). This race is hosted for all staff of the UNS Rectorate Office. There are three events conducted on that day, namely a rubber relay race, a glove relay race, and a water relay race.
Prof. Jamal participated in two races, the rubber relay and the glove relay. He appreciated this activity as a platform to strengthen the teamwork among the UNS Rectorate Office since, during the pandemic, various activities were carried out virtually.
“I support and appreciate this activity as the media for the UNS Rectorate Office staff in celebrating the 77th Republic of Indonesia Independence Day. In the 77th Indonesia Anniversary, Recover Faster, Rise Stronger!” said Prof. Jamal.
Aside from the three competitions, a room decorating competition was also carried out and attended by all units under the UNS Offices. The decoration race lasts for two days, Thursday-Friday (11-12/8/2022), with assessments conducted at an unspecified time. Meanwhile, the three competitions held at the East Courtyard of the UNS Rectorate Office were directly assessed by the jury.
In the rubber relay and water relay competition, the winner is determined based on the amount of rubber and water that was successfully transported in the relay by the team from point A to point B. Meanwhile, on the Sarong relay, the winner is determined based on the players’ speed while wearing a sheath, which must cover the players’ entire bodies.
Before the race, all participants participated in a morning gymnastics session. After the session, the race started from the preliminary round and concluded with the final stage. The excitement of this event was seen in the participants’ expressions and applause, as well as in the spectators when their teams were competing.
