UNS — Chemistry Education Program FKIP UNS community service program conducted training for Minimum Competencies Assessment (Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum – AKM) instrument for 21 teachers in MGMP IPA SMP Pokja V Karanganyar mid-August 2021. The training was held in SMP Negeri 2 Karanganyar to prepare Junior High School (SMP) teachers in preparing for National Assessment (AN).
The team was led by Dr. Sri Yamtinah, M.Pd., with Dr. Budi Utami, M.Pd., Dr. Mohammad Masykuri, M.Si., Dr. Maria Ulfa., M.Si., dan Dra. Bakti Mulyani, M.Si., as members. in the training the five faculty members invited participants to participate in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), followed by training to prepare AKM instrument. “After the training, there is assignment for each teacher to prepare AKM instrument with a direct assistance from the community service team members,” Dr. Sri Yamtinah mentioned in the news release received by uns.ac.id on Saturday (21/8/2021).
The training on AKM preparation is vital because it is the first time for its implementation. This means, the teachers have no experience in preparing questions using AKM and students are also not experienced in working with AKM type questions. This background was supported by Dr. Sri Yamtinah survey in SMP teacher’s comprehension and skills on AN and AKM. The survey showed that 50 out of 90 teachers in the survey have not received socialization and training on AKM.
The Chairman of MGMP IPA Karanganyar District, Drs. Sujiman, welcomed this training and stated that it is needed by the teachers. “Considering the complexity of competencies measured in AKM, thus, training on AKM component preparation is needed for students,” he mentioned.
As widely reported, the central government is implementing an innovation through the National Assessment (AN) that replace the National Examination (UN) as the requirement for graduation. AN has several parts, AKM, character survey, and learning environment.
AKM is a cognitive assessment that focuses on reading and numeric literacy without overlooking the content of a course, including the reading, numeric, logic-systematic skill, reasoning skill, learned knowledge, and skill to sorting and processing information.
“Through this training, teachers are expected to be skilled in preparing AKM instrument, and could train their students to work on AKM questions,” Dr. Yamtinah explained. Humas UNS
