UNS — The Chief of Public Relations Office and Media Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta shared the strategy in social media branding, especially in Kedaireka. The strategy was shared by Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto in the Public Relation Reka Innovation Kedaireka Series 8 webinar on Thursday (21/10/2021). The webinar was held by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek) Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). The series took digital talents development in Kedaireka innovator branding as the theme.

Kedaireka is the current solution in synergizing university contribution and industrial commercialization to build Indonesia in line with Kampus Merdeka’s vision from Kemendikbudristek. In the event, Dr. Deddy shared his experience in managing UNS social media that can be applied by Kedaireka. He stated that branding is vital in introducing an institution to the community, including through social media.

“It can be implemented through posters in each social media. For example, on Instagram, we shared information about routine activities, so the community knows that we have A, B, C, and other events. Then interaction with followers is also vital to build communication and closeness. Thus, it can be improved further,” Dr. Deddy stated.

The Chief of Public Relations Office and Media UNS also said that in its implementation, evaluation and planning are needed to maximize the existing platforms. He also added that Kedaireka branding also could be achieved by inviting public relations of universities to introduce Kedaireka. “For example, in Kampus Merdeka program with its logo put in every flyer, this is one way to branding,” he explained.

Logo of a program or event is needed to familiarize the community with the activities or programs. Dr. Deddy mentioned that public relations effort in accelerating the Kedaireka program is through adjustment of university’s missions. “Then communicating through informative and interactive contents. Consistent and continuous. Lastly, sharing testimonials for the public so that information from Kedaireka could be disseminated to the community well,” Dr. Deddy added. Humas UNS
