On Friday night (May 9th), students and people living nearby the campus gathered in the yard of the rector office at 7.30 pm to watch Collaboration of Art 2014 which performed collaboration of three Students-Activity Units (UKM). Held for the seventh, COA 2014 consisting Marching Band UNS, PSM VocaErudita, and the Division of Traditional Art Coordination (BKKT) gave fabulous performance. Those three UKM have won many prestigious contests. The event took theme Bahana Sabda Budaya meaning that couplets of tones covered in by cultures. A theatre group from FSSR named TESA and a comedy band coming from FISIP called FisipMeraung were also invited to enliven the location.
The show was really well-packed performance. Each UKM performed its ability before presenting nice collaboration. Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen was chosen as the song to present in collaboration. Not leaving the song’s greatness, the performers gave kind of fresh musical arrangement. The musical instruments of BKKT and the Marching Band slurred beautifully, while the VocaErudita sang the song harmonically. Moreover supported by the awesome lighting, the performance looked more impressing.
Not wanting to lose attention from the main performers, TESA and Fisip Meraung also dazzled the audience. TESA showed a good performance which was packed in anice play. As its well-known name, a comedy band FisipMeraung appeared impressively with several songs taken from its first and second album.
Being different from the previous year, the COA 2014 was held with new concepts. RatnaNovianti, one of the commitees, explained that the committees agreed to hold the show outdoor while they took auditorium hall last year—that was also suggested by second provost, Drs. DwiTiyanto, S.U.. Another different concept showed up was the stage act. Not being like previous year that the committees conducted musical drama where the show had plot, the committee only focused on the musical stuff.
DwiTiyanto put a high-expectation from the COA 2014. Being recorded, the result of the taping will be sent to Directorate General of Higher Education (DitjenDikti). “Mr. Dwi stated that he has a high-expectation, he wants the recording sent to DitjenDikti and to be selected. If the recording passes the selection process, this COA and the three UKM not only can hold event in Indonesia, but also abroad.” said Ratna. She also asked everyone to pray this will happen.
