UNS — The Faculty of Sports (FKOR) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta introduced “Kalkulator Keolahragaan” (Sports Calculator) App, in Warung Pecel Madiun and Dawet Ayu Laris Manis, Saturday (20/3/2021). The application was created to calculate young athletes’ sporting potential, sports achievements, and supporting sports development in various regions.
In the introductory session with the media crew, the Dean of FKOR UNS, Dr. Sapta Kunta explained that the application was developed based on his concern over the development of Indonesian athletes during the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has hindered them from conducting a meeting with athletes because it risks spreading Covid-19 disease. The Dean added that this app could facilitate trainers to prepare training programs and to monitor athletes remotely.
“(Although) not offline, wherever (the athletes are) they could get this app. They can perform tests independently,” Dr. Sapta Kunta said.
The app can predict one’s grown-up weight based on their current height, sitting height, and arm’s length. Therefore, this app will help parents to direct their children into appropriate sports in the future.
The Rector of UNS Praises “Kalkulator Keolahragaan” App
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, who also attended the introduction session, appreciated FKOR innovation and stated that the app is essential for the future of Indonesian sports. The Rector hopes that this app can help direct the young generation to focus on sports based on their physical ability. He also hopes that the app can be used in various regions in Indonesia, especially in Central Java.
“I think if the local government of Central Java has used this application, everything will be easier. Central Java can predict in the next 5-10 years what can be developed or achieved. From Jakarta to Papua, this can be implemented through supervision,” Prof. Jamal stated.
He also explained that the “Kalkulator Keolahragaan” app could be a revenue-generating source for UNS as a University with Legal Entity (PTNBH). The Rector encouraged FKOR to register the copyright of its new app. Humas UNS
