UNS — Four new professors at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta were officially inaugurated during UNS Open Academic Senate Session, Wednesday (15/12/2021). The four professors are Prof. Dr. Sayekti Wahyuningsih, S.Si. M.Si., Prof. Ir. Agung Tri Wijayanta, ST, M.Eng., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Agus Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Eddy Triharyanto, MP
The on-site inauguration ceremony was held at the GPH Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium and broadcasted through Zoom Cloud Meeting and the UNS Youtube channel. The opening of the Open Academic Senate Session was led by Prof. Dr. Adi Sulistiyono as Chair of the UNS Academic Senate.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, who was also present at the Professor Inauguration event, led the inauguration of the four new UNS Professors.
“Today, Wednesday, December 15, 2021, we inaugurate Prof. Dr. Sayekti Wahyuningsih, S.Si. M.Si. as Professor of Photocatalyst Chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Prof. Ir. Agung Tri Wijayanta, ST, M.Eng., Ph.D. as Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering (FT), Prof. Dr. Agus Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Sc. as Professor of Solar Cell Material Physics, FMIPA, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Eddy Triharyanto, MP., as Professor of Horticulture at the Faculty of Agriculture (FP),” said Prof. Jamal.
With the inauguration of the four professors, the current number of UNS Professors is 244. Prof. Jamal hopes that the four professors can continue to develop their fields of knowledge through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education Institution activities.
The Chair of the Board of Professors, Prof. Suranto, said that the title Professor is different from the Professor’s title in other institutions.
“A Guru Besar (t/n: official rank equal to Professor) is definitely a professor, but a professor is not necessarily a Guru Besar. This difference is because you have an attachment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Hopefully, future research can be devoted and implemented in teaching activities. I hope that the presence of four professors will be an extraordinary strength and continuous contribution for UNS,” said Prof. Suranto in his speech.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, advised the newly inaugurated professors to continue their accomplishments and be productive. “UNS does not encourage intellectual freeze, but UNS is striving to create academic freedom and provide space for expression for professors to be more productive. Once again, I wish you good luck and success,” said Prof. Jamal concluding his speech. Humas UNS
