UNS — Students of Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta brought home 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 1 best project, 1 best poster, and 1 diamond award from the International Invention Innovation Design (IID) 2021 competition.
In the competition held by Asia International Conference of Art and Design (AICAD) 2021. The Interior Design Program teams won the gold medals through Dinda Karina Y work Natural Fiber Lamination of Mendong Plant as an Innovation to Increase Community Collaboration in Plembon Yogyakarta, Melyana Tasya, and Alana Arrum M. with their Neko Pet Furniture, and Bilqis Sekarini P. through her Prestazi: Maximize Students Potential and Passion in Pandemic.
The silver award was achieved by Devia Nanda S., Intan Ayu R., and Hilda Septiani A. for their NED-Adjustable Table Divider, which also won the best project in Interaction Design Category Award, Best Poster Award, and prestigious Diamond Award. All of the winners were supervised by Pandu Purwandaru, Ph.D., Interior Design Program faculty member FSRD UNS.
The delegation from Visual Communication Design (DKV) also won a silver award. Amelia Metta A. with her Bamboo Based Packaging. The Fine Arts team also won the bronze award through Characteristics from Noni Rinjani.
In the professional category, the Gold Award was won by a team led by DKV, Jazuli Munib, with Esty Wulandari and Ervina Mugi Astari as members through their work; Story Book Design of Environmental and Hydroponics for Children. In another team, Jazuli Munib led Bedjo Riyanto, Andreas S. Widodo, and Esty Wulandari won the Silver Award for their Brownies Packaging Concept from Teak Leaves. Therefore, FSRD UNS brought home a total of 11 awards from the International Invention Innovation Design (IID) 2021.
Dinda Karina Yohany, one of the gold winners, shared that she is delighted with the accomplishment, especially that participants came from many countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh. She also said that she was challenged due to the diverse background of the participants and her tight schedule. “Alhamdulillah, (I) could win the gold award and make UNS proud; moreover, some teams from FSRD also received an award in this competition,” Karin stated. She mentioned that all teams from FSRD submitted great innovation and ideas that she hoped could inspire others in creating useful innovation for the environment. Humas UNS
