UNS — The Alumnus of Architecture Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Yudhi Puspa Tia, shared her stories in establishing a business. This story was shared in the ‘entrepreneurship hybrid seminar’ hosted by FT UNS in collaboration with the Student Executive Board (BEM) FT UNS. “The architectural bureau I established alongside my spouse was started with a house for family and studio construction since my husband has had this wish to have a personal studio. That was when I realized that building a house needs lots of funds. Therefore, we attempted to provide design service at an affordable budget while still delivering a unique project. The key is finding a need and filling it. We also shared this concept and story through my personal blog and social media, which allow me to gain the opportunity to be a freelance contributor for a house renovation,” explained Tia in her presentation on Tuesday (31/5/2022).
Their Studio is known as Rumah Dua Pohon (RDP) Studio, with a growing house as a concept. A down-to-earth concept with a simple touch but full of impact. Starting from this point, Tia started to get her first project to build a house with a budget under 3 million Rupiah per square meter. “Indeed, there are many challenges and difficulties in completing this project. But that was where we could keep learning, building prospective clients’ trust,” said Tia.
She added that in building a business, one could start with small projects at first because from these small projects, the business will get the opportunity to get on bigger projects. “Of course, along with the business growth, there must be a careful future plan and the will to complete projects perfectly and consistently. All these aspects will determine how far your business will grow sustainably,” she revealed.
According to Tia, to establish a business, the objective should be the main focus of an entrepreneur, instead of other businesses’ progress. Considering that each person will have their pace. “An entrepreneur is a person who is willing to work harder than others. All you need is patience, sincerity, and keep moving forward,” Tia concluded. Humas UNS
