UNS — An amazing achievement was again made by students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. This time around, Farrel Rizky Budiman, a student from the Diploma (D-3) in Travel Business Study Program Vocational School (SV) UNS, managed to win 1st place at the virtual Religious Moderation Short Video Competition hosted by the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), which was attended by 341 teams from all over Indonesia.
The technical assessment of the race requires Farrel to upload the video he has produced to the Youtube platform. Based on the information received by the uns.ac.id team from Farrel on Monday (9/5/2022), the video will then be assessed directly by Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as the Minister of Religion of Indonesia. The announcement of the winners was broadcasted through the official website of the Ministry of Religion at kemenag.go.id on Saturday (30/4/2022).
Regarding this achievement, Farrel, guided by Amad Saeroji, S.S., M.Sc., a lecturer from the Diploma in Travel Business Study Program, admitted that he did not expect to win the first place at the Ministry of Religion’s prestigious event. “Honestly, I was shocked because I didn’t expect to get the first place among hundreds of participants at the national level. But, I must stay grateful and humble,” Farrel explained.
Furthermore, Farrel explained that during his study, he felt that he often took part in video competitions. In fact, within a month, he could take part in 30-40 video races. “Indeed, I took part in various competitions during my study, especially the video competition, where I regularly participated for the last three years, and each month I can take part in 30-40 video competitions. So, yes, it appears that this championship was quite prestigious and I felt challenged and finally decided to participated in it,” he explained.
Farrel also said that he really enjoyed participating in the video competition because it has become his living force. But on the other hand, he admitted that he must be able to divide his time well among his study schedule. Even though he had enjoyed it, Farrel felt inferior at first. “For the competition itself, I am a bit insecure when witnessing other participants’ wonderful creations, but I believe in my three years experience in the video competition. Finally, I collected my courage to take part in this quite prestigious competition,” he explained.
Surprisingly, Farrel admitted that it only took four days to complete the video for this ‘Religious Tolerance in Diversity’ theme. “To prepare for the competition, I spent four days. One day to build the idea, storyboard, timeline, and determine location. One day for filming from morning tonight, and the last two days for post-production,” explains Farrel.
At the end of the interview, Farrel expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to win in more than a hundred video competitions, nationally and internationally. “I am very grateful to be able to take part and get to know about video competition during my study at UNS. Thank God that with God’s permission, I have won more than 100 national and international video competitions. It’s great to be a part of UNS students with an unforgettable experience on UNS campus,” Rizky said. Humas UNS
