UNS – Information disruption becomes one of the challenges in this technology development era. To discuss this issue, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education held the international conference under the theme “Reinforcing Network of Collaboration to Anticipate Information Disruption”, Friday-Saturday (20-21/7/2018).

The 4th International International Conference on Teaching Training and Education (ICTTE) held at Best Western Premiere Hotel was the collaboration of FKIP UNS with Thepsatri Rajabhat University (TRU) Thailand and the Communication Forum for the Leadership of Teachers Educators all over Indonesia.

In this conference, Sutarno, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs UNS opened the event. The materials were delivered by the invited speakers,  they are Hideo Nakata (University of Tsukuba) who is an expert in the field of lesson study; Christine C. Moh Goh (National Institute of Education Singapore) as an expert in English for Language Teaching.

Other speakers were Gatot Hari Priowirjanto (Director of SEAMEO Secretariat) as an expert in Technical And Vocational Education And Training; Andrzej Cirocki (York University, United Kingdom) as an expert in action research; Sunardi, (Universitas Sebelas Maret) as an expert in the field of inclusive education; and Indra Perdana (Leaders Communication Forum LPTK) as an expert in the field of education.

“This international conference is very important to hold as an effort to cope with technological developments and an industrial revolution. The industrial revolution is concerned with innovation change. Therefore, the role of teachers is very important in educating their students to face the industrial revolution,” Sutarno said.

Christine also explained that in this disruption era, there are eight things that challenge the higher education: competition among students, college rank competition, alternative for profit education provider, online class, challenge for learning that still use traditional method, teaching quality and learning, and the number of unemployed graduates.

There were 325 papers submitted to ICTTE this year. They come from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan. After going through the selection process, there were 190 titles of papers to be presented with topics covering various aspects of the development of education, learning, and development of teacher education institutions, and also the use of IT for the advancement of teacher education and training.

All papers will be selected and published in the Journal of Social Science & Humanities; Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education; Sri Lanka Journal of Social Sciences; International Journal of Pedagogy and Teacher Education (IJPTE); Science, Engineering, Education and Development Studies (SEEDS). humas-red.uns/Tni/Dty
